I am having some challenages. i should have gone in sooner. I am unsure if I dont just have the will power yet to eat slower or smaller bites. I have a odd thing almost feels as if my food backs up in my chest..then I pb and sometimes throw up. I am going in tomorow.. Unsure if I am got tight or need to work on it more. Does all doctors have the may to fill with the xrays..?/ Any advise would be great

I was having trouble at first as well when I finally got good restriction. I thought maybe I was too tight but later realized that I just wasn't eating slow enough or chewing well enough with the new restriction level.

If you can get liquids and mushies down just fine, you might just want to spend more time working on chewing and eating slow. It takes some dedicated time and practice to get it right in the beginning of banding. Also make sure you are not distracted when you are eating with tv or too much conversation . . . this can cause you to forget to focus and maybe take bites that are too big or swallow too quickly. It gets easier to follow the rules once you have been doing them for a while and it becomes habit.

Almost every office can allow you to get a fill under fluoro (X-ray) but it is generaly a little more expensive.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
