What do you miss most from pre band days?

Recommended Posts

The one thing that I miss soooo much is drinking with meals.

I am so thirsty I can hardly ignore it.

Then I have to wait 1 1/2 - 2hrs for a drink!!!!

I can never remember to drink an hour before my meal because my meal times are not planned. I guess I need to plan EVERYTHING. I am so "NOT" organized and it's gonna be so hard to keep track of time.

Maybe once the kids are back in school it'll be easier.

Once I lose the weight, can I drink w/ meals again?

I miss shopping for clothes and being too fat to fit in anything! Okay not really. I used to have a diet soda with every meal. I would happily make this sacrafice again as now I am fitting into a 38 pant and XL shirts.

On my way!

I miss social eating. I do pretty good at home but put me at a party or out to dinner with friends and I get all sad and moody (inwardly. nobody knows I had surgery so I can't be sad and moody on the outside :)). Maybe when I'm down -50 lbs I won't be sad and moody and I'll enjoy watching every one else stuff themselves! :)

Oh I also really miss drinking with meals. It's been one of my hardest challenges since being banded. Who knew that not drinking with a meal would be a struggle!

I miss Lane Bryant. They just don't fit anymore. Everything is too big. I know it seems wierd but I was always Lane Bryant for EVERYTHING. So shopping normally again is scarey. THere, I felt comfortable. There, there wasn't some size 2 teenie bopper trying to tell me my butt didn't look big. I knew that the sales WOMEN would tell me what looked good, I knew they would be honest. I trusted them (as one big girl to another) to help me. I felt lost. I still haven't gone to buy new clothes. I just don't have the heart for it. So.... I wear oversized clothes. I do have some things that fit, but mostly larger sizes for me.

why are you waiting 2 hours to drink???? Drink sooner! All the guidelines I've read say ONE half hour to one hour, not as long as your a waiting.

You are probably going to be dehydrated soon! Yikes! Drink sooner!

I too miss drinking with my meals. But I was mostly a Water drinker, never a soda drinker.

Hi,

I dont miss much. MY life is pretty good as a thinner healthier person. Although, every once in a while, I wish I could inhale a hamburger with the bun !

I don't miss anything. Everytime I look in the mirror it reminds me how very grateful I am to have the band.

Sometimes I wish I could have a big hamburger with the bun, but to be honest, when I have a bit hamburger in front of me, I really don't want the whole thing. Usually I cut it in half, put half away, eat most of the other half, and am happy to have one or two bites with the bun, but don't much want the rest. There are some breads I like and would love to have, but I don't miss them enough to say I regret anything. Especially after getting new jeans last night.. one pair of 16's from the "plus size" section and one pair of 17's from the JUNIORS section!!

Ahhh, what do I miss? Hmmmm, nothing? Banded life is pretty similar as far as eating once you get over the "rules" like smaller bites, chewing like mad, etc etc. It seems like reality now, even when my band "bites back" occasionally. It is rather fickle, you know. Nope, don't really miss anything. I have officailly adjusted, I guess. :)

Now that I can eat solid food, I miss nothing! It's great to lose some weight. I'm not up to the point where I feel like a different person yet but hopefully I'll get there soon.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
