Recommended Posts

Is it possible to do this? I mean I know over time you can but I just worry because I am still able to eat bread etc. not that I eat alot of it but I can still eat well. I am at 6cc and I worry that I have stretched out my new pouch already? I was banded on 12/30- PLease tell me I am over reacting - I have only lost 40 pounds total and everyone says I should have lost more by now--:tt1:

who has told you you should have lost more by now?, YOU have lost alot of weight already, be proud your losing & not gaining, you were banded on 12/30- & the band is to help you lose 1-2lbs a week sensibly, so i figure you are doing a great job,

it doesnt matter who is losing fast, its not a race, were all in this boat for the same reason & your doing it, so keep up the good work, drink plenty, exercise & be proud of your weight loss :tt1:

Plus who said you can't eat bread? You're in diet mode. You need to move beyond that. My doc says to goal is to be able to eat anything, to make healthy choices most times, to not snack, and to eat 3 small meals a day. and you lose. YAY. Bread (and Pasta and rice) are all part of that.

If you have a really tight fill , it's hard to eat bread. That takes several fills though.

I have always been able to eat bread. I usually don't eat it, but it's hard to pass up when I am out to dinner and they pass out that bread basket.

I have always been able to eat bread as well. It's different for some. One of my co-workers was banded two years ago and still can't tolerate bread. It's your individual system, where you might be able to handle bread and not chicken etc... someone else may be able to handle chicken and not bread. And then you'll get a good fill and sometimes all that will change. Good choices, three small meals and slow and steady. 40 pounds since December is awesome. Don't let anyone but your body tell you where you should be.

I learned tonight that I DO NOT tolerate green Beans. It makes me sad, but it's something I am going to have to live with. I do tolerate bread, but I'm trying really hard not to eat it. :-) I did have half a small piece of pizza the other night and a bite of crust. It doesn't make me feel bad, it makes me feel normal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
