Hello - I was banded 4 weeks ago today, Feb. 25, 2008. I've been looking all over the internet looking for others to talk to about it. I'm glad I found this site. I'm looking forward to learning how the process has gone for others. I guess I'm really wanting to know I'm on track and right where I should be. It's one thing when your doctor says you are and when you compare yourself to others. I know everyone is different, it's just nice to know where you are in comparison.

looking forward to meeting y'all.

Hi Allea, welcome to LBT. Check out the monthly support groups on the main forums menu. The companionship and support gained by communicating with other bandsters who started out along with me has been an invaluable part of this experience.

All the best,

Hi!

I was also banded on Feb 25 and so far have healed up quite well. I am down 19 pounds and started back on solid foods a little over a week ago. I am going in for my first fill on April 6. How has your band journey been so far?

Terri

I'm loving it. I feel like I've got this great secret and I want to tell everyone about it. I've lost 19lbs on my scales, according to the doc when I went last Tuesday for my post op appointment, I'd lost 16lbs. I weigh every day, probably shouldn't. So I guess we're right on track. I have my first fill, if needed on April 17. They said they ask you all those questions about how you're doing, then decide if you need one or not. Love to hear more from you. Have you started exercising yet?

Thanks Mariah, I do agree eveyone is different, but I really don't have a frame of reference for how much people loose at first on Lap band. All the people I've spoken with prior to my surgery, were at their goal weight and very happy with their band. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

A

I am riding my stationary bike about 3 times a week and plan on increasing the frequency in the coming weeks. What type of exercise do you like to do?

I'm walking on my treadmill 30 mins every day or riding my exercise bike too for at least 30 mins. tonight i walked my street with a neighbor. nice weather so it was nice, she's pregnant so she was slow and we were both huff and puffing up our hills.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
