Banded last Thursday and already eating semi-solid food. What's wrong???

I had my surgery 3/13 and I am still on Clear Liquids. I don't go to creamy liquids until Friday. I personally wouldn't chance my surgery but to each their own. You asked-- more importantly you may want to discuss this with your surgeon in case something happens down the road. Also, if you aren't sticking to the prescribed way of doing things now, you might want to think of your success of doing it your way? I mean sure it is great to say I broke the rule and nothing happened. But what if you actually followed what you were supposed to? Learning discipline now can only help you later on.

i had my surgery on the same day as you March 19. and i am still on clear liquids until tomorrow. all doctors are different, but i am not even ALLOWED to try real food for another 3 weeks. I guess the reasoning is that we don't realize but every swollow we take, Our stomach's are in motion moving and churning... and the less your tummy has to do while healin the better. i mean the stomach is connected and sutured around the band. I feel great, and had no complications... i am just going to do what my doctor says, cause if i can't follow her instrudctions now, i'd worry that i wouldn't be able to follow them 6 months down the road

Good luck to you

Just banded yesterday and today I start full liquids which is Protein drinks and 2 oz of the following for Breakfast, lunch and dinner cottage cheese, yogurt oatmeal, cream of wheat, strained Soup, Beans Jello and very soft scrambled egg. The Beans must be pureed. Now like I said this is only day 2 for me so I really don't plan on advancing myself that quickly. Today I will probably have a Protein Drink, tea, crystal light and maybe the cream of wheat later in the day.

I am feeling way better today than yesterday just some pain in the port area and a bit of pain when I breath deeply.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
