Hello,

I had my 1st fill on 03/11 of 1.2cc and since then I've been sooo hungry all the time - I am back to my eating days I had my surgery on 01/09 and have lost 15 lbs with inches but I'm soo afraid that the weight might come back if I continue this way, I know I have restriction since I've had two episodes of chocking and vomiting because I didn't chew good and ate too fast juts last night I had too much to eat and had to fly to the bathroom (so I guess I have restriction, right!) is it possible that I need a 2nd fill? can someone please give me advise!! Thanks...

Slow down, eat slowly and chew your food until it's liquid in your mouth. You won't know if you need another fill until you learn to eat like a bandster.

I have the same problem!

I had my first fill 3/9 (surgery was 1/14), and it's not so much that I'm hungry, but I feel absolutely NO restriction! I'm like, what the heck? I have lost maybe a pound since then (down 20 from surgery), and can't seem to get anywhere. I think if I tried eating as much as I wanted I'd be able to.

I've been going to the gym 4 times a week, using treadmill and a bunch of other equipment, for about 1 hr. work-out.

Another of my group-mates (her surgery was I think the week after mine) has also had the same result.

Anyhow, I am disappointed, and my next fill isn't until April 20. I tried to get in earlier, but they said I had to wait that long before coming back.

Rats.:tt1:

It usually takes at least 3 fills to get good restriction.

Doctors don't like to give to big of a fill all at once when you are first banded. It can cause problems,

So do you guys suggest that I wait a little more for my second 2nd fill pr when do I know I'm ready for a fill...

Today it's 2 weeks since the 1st fill, my 1st fill was in Mexico (tijuana) I actually had my surgery with Dr.Ortiz (Yeahh) that CUTE - Handsome Dr. that come out on "The Doctors" show the one that trains for lap bands here in the U.S. they do their fills with flouro but I don't think it's neccessary for future fills, so I found a Dr. here in Oakbrook, Il - maybe I should call and see if I need another fill soon...

Read the thread "how the band works. Fills and Refills (something like that) by Wendall Edwards in the section in the forums called fills. That explains a lot.

I would not get a fill if you are getting food stuck regularly. That will just make the situation worse. Choking and vomiting are not a good thing and are not good for the band long term. vomitting is what causes the band to slip.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
