Hello all!!! Well its been a whole week since my banding. I'm doing much better. I still have the gas pains, but not as much as in the beginning. I walk around my apartment constantly. I'm counting down to when i can be on the pureed diet. Before my procedure i did 2 weeks of liquid and now for two weeks after i'm on liquid. what i wouldnt give to have one noodle in my broth. i know i have to let my stomach heal but my god i cant wait to chew food.< img src="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/default_mellow.png" alt="" />

I understand exactly how you feel but just remember, there are a lot of us out here who are living proof that it can be done. I can't tell you how many times during that month that I whined "I just can't wait to chew again". I dreamed of which foods I would eat in the mushy stage.

Not sure if you've tried it or if it is allowed, but popsicles were considered liquid for me. I would bite and chew them and it did help me mentally.

One week down and one to go!... You can do this, if I did it anyone can and it is so rewarding when you sucessfully get to that last day!

I know what you mean! It's only been 5 days since my surgery and I would love to just chew on something. Popcicles are great and so are hard candies (although my kids keep trying to steal them....hahaha!).

I actually got my husband to pick me up some chips yesterday so that I could lick the flavor off them....it was GREAT!

I FEEL UR PAINNN! I was banded on the 25th of Feb and have been on liquids since then..well up until 15 mins ago! I simply couldn't wait till Breakfast to begin mushy foods (wat's a few hours right?) so I had a few spoons of ground meat spaghetti sauce...now i dont even know if thats considered a "mushy food" tho...I took about 6 spoons of it mixed in with a bit of cheese. Not the greatest choice i know, i know but I've been doing a month of Soups and borths and just thought hey take it easy tonight tomorrow we'll get back to the scrambled eggs, tuna and pureed foods. it felt like HEAVEN and not only that but it teaches you the importance of Protein that you would have taken for granted before you were banded. Just keep going, ur doing great!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
