Yeah!

Just got off the phone with the surgeon's office and they had received my approval for surgery from the Insurance Co. I have Cigna and was worried. Thought I'd have a wait but the information was submitted last Thursday afternoon and we got the OK this morning.....

My date has been set up for April 14...Now for the pre-op diet. Need to start it tomorrow but it is not full liquids. I can have a low-fat small dinner so I am confident it will be tolerable.

WTG Suz! I am so happy for you! Where do you live and who is your doc? I bet you are so excited! Wonder why they have you eating like that a month out? All these docs are so different, kinda gets confusing!

Anyway, congratulations and i pray all goes well for you!

I have to have a 3 week diet. Wow can't believe it is actually 3 weeks from today....Should have started today on the diet but didn't know for sure about the approval...Will get into it Gung Ho tomorrow..I have been on a low carb for my 6 month diet and lost about 26 lbs....Off to a great start...

I live in central NC and am having the surgery at NC Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem NC. My doctor is Dr Al Fernandez...I really love him and his staff....

Now I need to figure out how to do a ticker...I have mainly been lurking here and decided to wait to attatch it until I was sure my insurance approved me....Yeaaaaaa!!!!

Congratulations on getting your date. I also got the approval for the surgery today, I have been waiting so long for the approval now I am having second thoughts. Has anyone felt the same way when they waited so long. I was so into getting the surgery now they kind of put a damper on things????

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
