Best time to work out?

Recommended Posts

When's the best time to work out? I've heard in the morning on an empty stomach. But then others say it really doesn't matter, JUST DO IT! lol :scared2: :rolleyes2:

I may have to agree with the ladder as I'm not a morning person. teehee :scared2:

The best time is the time you will actually do it.

For me that's late afternoon or early evening.

I think whenever it will get done is best. I like late afternoon early evening too - I'm at my most energetic, but lately I've been going out at 6 am because I've been working full time. It's still good, but boy I'm soooooooo tired, even though I would normally get up by 6.15 anyway.

When I'm working, no doubt about it, its safer to go in the morning so its done and cant be put off. but I keep it short and sweet - a quick 30 minute 6km run. If I have time, I will do something else in the evening, if not I dont have to worry.

I don't think the time matters, as long as you are doing it.

But I don't think working out on an empty stomach would be good. When I did a couple of personal trainer sessions I was told to eat something about half an hour before the workout. And if not eat, then at least drink a glass of milk.

Thank you all for your input. The bit about it being on an empty stomach seems to make sense though. I think otherwise one might start feeling ill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
