What is your liquid diet?

Recommended Posts

I am not required to be on a liquid diet, but I am required to loose 10lbs prior to surgery and I am having a hard time. I would like to go on a liquid diet on my own and was hoping you could tell me what yours consisted of so that I can do the same thing, since I didn't get one from my own doctor. I would appreciate it greatly! Thanks everyone!

My doc's plan: Protein Shakes for each of the 3 meals (plus SF liquids and water) for 3 days. After the 3rd day, a garden salad can be substituted for one of the shake meals. The garden salad is to be only moderate sized, and be made of stuff that comes from the ground (ie, no cheese, croutons, meats, etc). We do that for 7 - 11 more days (the plan is supposed to last from 10 days to 2 weeks). Good luck!

Well I'm replacing two meals a day with either slim fast/ ensure, or a Protein shake (vanilla in chocolate milk, sooooo yummy) and I made a big pot of tortilla Soup with Beans, been blending the fool out of it and then straining it. I'm not a sweet fan so the craving for 'food' was strong until I started adding the soup in. It is really low fat, low cal, high in Protein so I didn't feel too bad. . .

I have to start a clear liquid only on Sunday and Monday. I have no idea how I'm going to manage that!! But I'm taking this one day at a time!

Hi, I am on all Liquid Protein and this is day 8 pre op, surgery April 1st. I am drinking 2 Atkins shakes @ 11 oz, 15g Protein, 9g fat, 5 carbs, and this awesome MetaRx stuff that is 51 grams of protein in a 15 oz can with 6 carbs, 240 calories, 1g fat. they say fat grams up to 30 are ok to help with hunger and protein, of course helps with hunger. they say limit protein up to 70g a day so i'm going to have to cut back - maybe cut out the MetaRx when i run out. check out www.vitacost.com for good prices...and good luck

4 shakes per day, 10-12 ounces regular soymilk with MRM 100% Natural whey Protein (bodybuilding.com is where I got mine), would also work fine with non-fat milk but I can't take a gallon of dairy a day (and frankly no one in my office would want me to given the effects).

salad greens with 1 cup veggies and either balsamic vinegar or lemon juice.

Couple of cups of sugar-free Jello.

Some days I would go 2 shakes and 1/2 a trader joe's meal for two.

Worked like a charm, dropped a little more than 20 pounds in 3 weeks.

Basically my doc's instructions were 4 shakes of 220-250 calories or 2 shakes plus one microwave meal of 300 calories or less plus salad plus SF Jello. I didn't want to use ensure or nutrisystem because I was trying to wean myself off processed sugars.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
