Hi All

This is my first posting . I was banded last week 17th March (Hi Fatpants..fI'm the older lady in the bed opposite). I'm still feeling a bit sore but getting back to normal. I weighed myself yesterday and had lost 9 whole lbs...I know this is just the initial 'post op' loss but I'm delighted. I have had solid food like soft noodles and I have just had a small bowl of spag bol.... Don't think I could have stuck to tea and broth. Can't wait to get eating properly and healthily

Hey Dublin, if your doctor says you're supposed to be on liquids, then get back on them RIGHT NOW! Eating solids (even soft stuff) causes your stomach to move when it digests them. This movement of your stomach can interfere with the "healing in" of your band. Bottom line, eating solids too soon can cause bad things for your band down the road. Don't do it!!

Hi dublingirl,

I'm glad to hear you're doing well, well done on your weight loss, I'm not sure how much I've lost as my scales went on the blink! I tried eating 'normal' food and had a bad experience so won't be doing that again. I know what you mean about the liquid diet...it's so tedious! I am not feeling so great.

Hi Fatpants

Sorry to hear you're not feeling too good..some of the side effects are not very nice I agree. I dont think I have much restriction..I seem to be able to eat more than I should but not as much as pre op. Down a full stone this morning in 14 days..so pleased with that. Hope you are taking things easy in your recovery although life takes over doesnt it . I just keep picturing myself slim and with the long evenings coming in starting to exercise. When do you think is the right time to start say a 20 minute walk...maybe I will give it another week .

My god! Lucky you! I cant't believe you've lost a stone in 14 days. Mind you I can't believe it was only 14 days ago we were in that hospital! Well done you, what a great job you've done! I don't think I'm doing well with the weight loss, the chocolate still slips down! I didn't realise before the operation that we would still have those temptations! I am trying to eat Soups and things like that but I just find it so hard when there chocolate!

I wish my scales didn't break and I knew exactly how much I was loosing then I would be more encouraged! You would think I was a child, but I just have no discipline! Did Frederik phone to see how you were getting on?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
