Stuffing my face - no more!

Recommended Posts

Ok, this will sounds strange, but I am wondering if anyone else understands this feeling. I miss eating huge bites of food - that wonderfully satisfying tearing off the food, chomping on a big ol' forkful, stuffing my mouth until I could barely breath....

Yeah, I know that is what got me in this mess...yeah, I TOTALLY appreciate that I simply cannot do that any longer and that it is the right thing for me - but, man, every time I see someone stuffing their face or taking a huge bite...I just get all kinds of nostalgic and JEALOUS! How nutty is that, I know, but still, anyone get this????

:frown:

That's so funny that you posted this bc I literally just wrote about this on my blog! And yes, to clarify so people dont yell at us...This is why we had a problem, and this is why we need the band...

but

With my second fill I can longer take huge bites, or take a bite of a cookie and wash it down with milk. And when i eat, I have to eat slow...while my boyfriend chows down like he some masked man will come up behind him and make off like a thief in the night if he doesnt eat fast enough.

Makes perfectly good sense though. I can only speak for myself...but I have been eating like this for almost 3 decades! It takes time to change...and during this process...we mourn the loss of the old weigh (pun intended).

omw i am having a grouchy day today because of the SAME thing. I haven't been banded yet and have started to try to eat they way I have read/been told I will following the band. It is a mourning of sorts isn't it? I read a post today about eating until you are not hungry as opposed to eating until you are full. It totally hit me, I have never eaten until I was simply not hungry. I dont even know if I am capable. I mean I KNOW that surely I am capable but omw it requires such thought. such presence when eating. for me it's such a balance between being empowered and sad lol today it's more sad.

I am SO wondering this same thing. My banding is schedule for one week from today. I want to be healthy and thin, but I also am grieving not being able to go to McDonald's and sink my teeth into a Big Mac!!!! I am going to miss bread and fast food terribly!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
