I am getting banded for multiple medical reasons, the least important being infertility. However, my doc is fairly sure that once I shed the extra pounds, viola, baby on board.

Now I know the literature recommends 2 years inbetween being banded and being pregnant; So aside from that, is there anyone here that has been pregnant after banded? How long were you banded and how did the pregnancy go?:crying:

Do they just unfill your band so that you can eat 'normally'? Can you even eat 'normal' with the band there, even unfilled?

Those are great questions! There is a whole thread about pregnancy with the lap band. Check it out, I found so much great info. From what I read you usually do end up getting at least a partial unfill during the pregnancy. I find eating with my band is pretty normal, it all depends on how tight you keep your band, and how well you chew. Good Luck!

My friend had a surprise pregnancy 7 months after being banded. She thought she could only get pregnant with fertility drugs, since that's what she had to do for her first two pregnancies. She found out all she had to do was lose some weight and she was no longer infertile. She hasn't had an unfill yet but she was told as soon as she can no longer consume 1800 calories per day she has to get a partial unfill.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
