are there any other women who have PCOS and have had Lap-Band? How has it helped with the PCOS? Has the PCOS made it difficult to lose the weight?

Hey, I have PCOS but I haven't got the band yet (10 sleeps!) so will let you know! However there is a specific forum for PCOS bandsters - down the bottom of the forum page. Personally, however, I am looking forward to no more pimples and being fertile!!! Yay, babies!!:frown:

I have PCOS and have been banded for 2 months. I have noticed slight differences (like starting my cycle on my own- but that's only happened once so far).

I was told from a few different dr's that my symptoms would vanish once the weight does... I sure hope so!

i have PCOS...and i was banded in december. i have lost around 36 lbs.

the band definately helps with the weight loss!! i tried everything else from weight watchers to medications from the doc.

i havent noticed much in the way of the PCOS symptoms yet..i am still taking all my meds. metformin, spironolactone, and birth controp pills. i havent discussed stopping any of them with my docs yet. i figure i should lose more weight first since i first noticed my symptoms getting worse around 165-170 lbs and i am currently around 200.

Hello

My name is Marie and I have PCOS. I was banded July 2008 and at that time weighed 207lbs. 9 months later I have lost 73lbs.

I am hoping this has helped because I now have regular periods for the past 5 months, my acne has really deminished, and I am still trying for a baby so if losing the weight helps me accomplish this then I truly do recommend the banding.

Just being 73lbs lighter I can honestly say if those of you that are still contemplating it dont think about it any further. DO IT

Marie

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
