marathonmommy 0 Posted May 22, 2009 I'm having my surgery May 28th. I am on day 5 of my liquid diet and surprisingly Im doing just fine. I am getting very excited!! Me too! Same day. We will have to compare notes! I'm a little annoyed/upset/confused. Today I got my call about anesthesia. The lady on the phone asked all the general questions about medical background, etc. She asked my height and then my weight. When I told her my weight, she asked why I was having this done! My BMI is probably 36 right now. I know I'm not the heaviest person to have this done but to have it questioned by some random person right before I go in is not very comforting! mwh2266 0 Posted May 23, 2009 It is violation of HIPPA laws for her to make a comment like that and so innappropiate, only you and your physician know what is bes for you.
cheri634 0 Posted May 23, 2009 Hi! I finally did got banded on May18th. I'm feeling pretty good now, some Constipation, and I'm uncomfortable at night, but not really in pain. I'm glad I did it one minute, and the next minute wondering what I was thinking. Seems they sure do advertise a lot of good food on TV the last few days. I know overall in the big picture of my life, I won't regret it. But this first period of time on liquids can be a trial. I can't wait to see what the future holds for me. maclynn 0 Posted May 23, 2009 Seems they sure do advertise a lot of good food on TV the last few days. Oh, I so know what you are talking about. I swore the only commercials they had were food commercials when I was too sore to do anything but sit in the chair and watch TV!
hsj 0 Posted May 23, 2009 Thanks for the responses. I feel better just venting to those that know first hand what I am talking about. Somehow that just seems to help. Glad to know there is a site like this out there. Thanks, Heather
purplekyss 8 Posted May 23, 2009 I was banded on 5/15 and I'm down 12# The only thing thats gonna keep this big difference is exercize. I came home exactly the same that i went in but it started to come off fast. Remember it healthy to loose 1-3 lbs a week.

dhall111 0 Posted May 24, 2009 My date is this coming Tuesday. I've been on liquids since last Monday. Lost 10.5 pounds but then put 2 back on. Weird. I can have cream Soups, broth, Jello, pudding, popsicles, fudgsicles, italian ice. And at least 3 Protein drinks a day. I've been drinking Boost and LOVE them. They're really good. I haven't really been hungry at all. I didn't have any calorie or fat or carb restrictions. They recommended fat free or sugar free but not required. I just can't have any chunks. So if I want chicken noodle Soup I can have it, but have to strain all the "stuff" out of it. I've been living on the V8 Soups, they are really good! I mix a can of cheddar cheese Soup with them and get two meals out of it. Butternut Squash is my favorite. Sometimes they're a little thick and have a bit of stuff in them so I strain them. Anyhow, I hadn't even thought about any real pain after surgery. I had my gallbladder out about 15 years ago and I was in college the next day taking a test. I was hoping this would be similar. wmaodell 3 Posted May 24, 2009 Ok guys I was banded May 14th and I am hungry ALL the time pretty much... I am sick and tired of the same old thing day after day!! I was able to just start runny mash potatoes and I thought that was the greatest thing ever!! Does anyone have any ideas for me??
LindaD 3 Posted May 24, 2009 I'm scheduled for next Friday, so right at the end of the month. That's me, the caboose - bringing up the rear. :lol And speaking of bringing up the rear, I'm hoping that the loss of weight will.... oh, nevermind. :wink2: I'm 35 pounds down before surgery and expect to drop 5-10 more with this no-calorie liquid thing I'm trying to follow. That feels like a good kick-start even before the surgery.
hsj 0 Posted May 24, 2009 Melissa- I have treied fat free sour cream, fat free cheeses on the mashed pot. and they are pretty good. Also cream of pot Soup, pretty good. Gonnagetbanned 0 Posted May 25, 2009 Hello Everyone, This is my very first post. I have surgery set for May 26 at 1pm. Im super nervous as this whole procedure happened really fast. I was approved by my insurance on May 21 and was scheduled for May 26 and was told not to worry about the pre-op diet. Im currently 230lbs at 5'5" I stopped smoking the day I was informed of the surgery. Im scared to death. ALL that I read it says you must stop smoking 2 months prior. Its been only 4 days, I wasnt a heavy smoker, 1-3 cigs a day quitting hasnt been difficult as I had mentally prepared my self when I first decided to have the band. But Im just super worried that my dr kinda rushed things, I havent quit long enough for the nicotine to leave my system. Is my liver size going to be an issue? SO many questions. The surgeon I have has done more than 1000 bands and has had amazing success rate. Im just shocked at how fast things happened. I know he has put many others on a 2 week pre-op diet, many that were near my weight and size too. Im kinda confused. Or is it just my anxiety? Am I making a mistake? My mom got her band last year and has lost over 80lbs and is doing wonderful. She used a different surgeon and she did an extensive pre-op diet. Im so scared. Thanks for reading tina
jessicastatzer 0 Posted May 25, 2009 I also have surgery scheduled tomorrow. I am also 5.5 and my starting weight was 233...I am down to 222 now. Sounds like our stats are nearly exactly the same. I was on a low carb diet for 2 weeks and now finishing up a 2 day clear liquid diet. Lets stay in touch and compare stories!! Good Luck!
