Is God real?

But does SHE know? Hmmmmm.....

Naw, she is so self-involved that I wager that she doesn't.

I have a couple of transfer addictions: shopping and monitoring communication skills. I was loitering on the Christian site and it seems that a belief in Jesus has ruined the believers' ability to communicate in credible English. Why is this? Do they also write in tongues????

That is just the product of homeschooling when you have no business homeschooling. I am all for it if you are qualified but if you are dumb as a doornail your kids will probably not make it much farther.

Thanks for the answer. This makes sense. It would be interesting to know what proportion of these kids go on to university and how well they fare once they are there. Or does a belief in God preclude higher studies? I guess the answer is as with the computer: garbage in, garbage out.

Who is that weirdo guy that writes text books for fundie fanatics to home school? I can't remember his name, I always think of him as Rev. BillyBob. I'm drawing a blank. Those books are nothing short of frightening... not to mention wrong.

I would post my blog address here but I suspect that it would offend too many people.

I will PM with the address.

please send as well - love to read it.

i had typed up a reply here, but LBT ate it when i hit submit.

anyway - readers digest:

i was raised roman catholic (still am), with a jewish mother. i have "faith" in god - but have never relied on the bible or organized religion to beat it into me as "fact". i just do. i considered my religious upbringing as great story telling (catholics are good at pagentry) and i enjoyed it. after my brothers and i were confirmed, my parents said they did their part - we know what time mass is & if we wanted to go .. great , if we wanted to explore other religions or none at all - fine.

i had a better post the first time; but i enjoy this topic & other views - except those on ignore.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
