Sweet.... I can eat at Sweet Tomatoes

Recommended Posts

Today my hubby had a craving for Sweet Tomatoes ( a salad bar chain ) I have avoided going anywhere where there is anything that I would even want to eat but I actually found that it was the best place for me today.

They only charged me the kids meal price $4.99 and I was able to get some boiled egg at the salad bar and then they have on average 6-7 Soups out of which I got a small taste of each one.

My poor taste buds have been killing me with the bland broth choices that I have had and this was the perfect little bite here and there that truly made my day.

Plus my hubby did not feel guilty eating in front of me when I had 3 bowls of Soup in front of me !

I love Sweet Tomatoes but haven't tried going there since I have been banded. How did you go about getting the kids meal price of $4.99? Thanks!

We do not have any local Sweet Tomatoes, but when we travel, we make sure to go if there is one close by. The food selection is outstanding, super high quality, and my, oh my, those Soups are divine. I try to stay away from the Molten Lava Cake. However, I am never successful at staying away from it.

Do you have the card from your doctor or from the lapband site

?

I just showed them my card and was able to get the discount, another way around that was to just sign up for the club and they send you coupons for a buy one get one free deal which makes it a little cheaper ( since you have to buy drinks too )

The manager at the one we go to here in Vegas was more than accommodating and understanding with the situation which was just great.

Yes, I do have the card from my surgeon. I guess I've always felt a little embarassed to use it. I am also a member of their email club. I haven't gotten any coupons in a long time from it. Occasionally we do have coupons in the Sunday paper. Thanks for your reply.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
