I have been on my preop diet now for 16 days and have averaged about a pound a day up until today when I stepped on the scale and had gained a pound! How could this be? I have not cheated one bit! Did any of you start the yo yoing in the preop stage?

Get off that scale!! 14 lbs is wonderful. There will be plenty of time for the scale later on. The pre-op is to shrink your liver, get the carbs out so to speak. To make it easy for the Dr to get behind that liver without any problem and getting that band around the top part of your tummy.

Great start, remember, take your time, follow the doc's rules, walk, drink, walk some more. Good luck, the journey will be worth it in the long run.

Great post! Couldn't help but laugh because I can imagine the panic you are in.

I lost ZERO pounds during pre-op.

I lost ZERO pounds post-op.

I lost ZERO pounds after my first fill.

So, if you've lost even an ounce you've beat me! Your ticker shows you've lost something so far- be happy!

Congrats on being human AND just wait and see- before you know it you are going to come back and post you've lost your first 25 pounds.

frustrating for SURE. take the average of at least 3 days to account for variables. and, there are many variables from your cycle to the weather and on and on and on....so, don't make one day THE day - look at it as one of a few days....two steps forward one step back you're still ahead....

Hence why I refuse to buy a scale for home  I only weight in once a week and my location is at the gym. If that doesn't kick you in the arse nothing will. That being said.....stop beating yourself up. You have already lost 14 lbs that is awesome!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
