walker933 0 Posted March 20, 2009 I'm going to my 2nd first introduction class April 1st. This is the 2nd time because of insurance purposes. I now have insurance that covers lap-band. Does anyone have experience with Blue Cross? I'm curious if I’m going to run into any trouble. I'm a type II diabetic, high blood pressure, cholesterol, bmi 43, and a track record of weight loss failures.
jones1100 0 Posted March 20, 2009 I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois and had all of the symptoms that you do and I didn't have a problem after I met all of their conditions. You shouldn't have a problem with them. From Jones 1100.
Lopez1978 0 Posted March 20, 2009 I have BCBS of Georgia, it covered the surgery 100% after my $500 deductible was met. However I had to go through a 6 month supervised diet with my doctor...ugh! I had to to to a psychiatrist as well. But it was all worth it. I was banded on Nov 24, 2008 and have lost 45 pounds so far and I feel great. I wish I would have done it earlier. Good Luck to you.... Divis 1 Posted March 20, 2009 Hi walker933, I also have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois and they are great, they are covering the whole thing. That is after I met their qualifications. They asked to provide 6 months of monitored weight (Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers or your Nutritionist). I do however think it varies from state to state. I had a friend who had Kaiser Permanente and she had to go to classes for 1 year and not miss any in order for her to qualify. Good Luck! :tongue_smilie: Divis
Picklesix 1 Posted March 20, 2009 I've had a real positive experience with BC/BS of Florida. They required lots of documentation and a 6 month diet. I gave them all they asked for and more and had no problems with approval or payment. Good luck!

finding mojo 0 Posted March 21, 2009 Hello all. I'm still in the very first stages of research. United Healthcare PPO of NY will cover 80% after $1100 deductible, with a "letter of medical necessity". My PCP is on board with my decision; so we are now waiting for Jenny Craig to send my most recent weight history to my Doctor. The only problem is that my family and I are getting ready to move to Florida, so I sort of need to put the next steps on hold until we've settled in and found a new PCP who can highly recommend a barriactric surgeon to take me through the rest of the steps until my surgery date. I wonder if it's more expensive in NY than in FL??? Maybe I should try to get it done here. Does anyone have any advice?
