Who was your surgeon?

I'm not sure who you're asking but mine was Dr. Geiss for the band and Dr. Aceves for the VSG revision.

I have been banded for a month now... I remember thinking before surg. that i would mourn food... and i don't at all bc i am able to eat what i like in proper portions. I eat 4oz of food at a time and i am satisfied for 3-4 hours. it is awsome. Ive lost 15 since surg. and 21 total. I don't even think i'll need a fill for awhile.

I wish everyone lots of luck and i hope you all lose a ton of weight!!

I had my first real "mourning" experience today. We went out to eat with my boss' new boss and I found out I don't like Indian food any more! It used to be my favorite!

I find this all quite interesting. coffee still does not smell or taste "right" to me and I've noticed this with several other foods. For example, I make a graham cracker crust for cheesecake which includes adding melted butter to the crackers. It used to smell and taste wonderful but now the taste is "off" and so is the smell.

You're an experienced sleeve patient at goal so I guess this taste/smell thing must be a life change. What turned you off about the indian food?

I am noticing that anything sweet smelling absolutely turns me off. I have never been a big sweet eater to begin with, but I do find that odd. Salty, crunchy things are my downfall. I wish they were unappealing to me.

It sounds like that lady needs to seek some psychiatric help for clinical depression. If I were to make a list and put down the pros and cons of getting revised to a sleeve the pros would win over by a land slide.

I've never been at a normal weight. Given the choice of only eating a 1/2 cup of food at a sitting in exchange for a healthy life and ALL that goes along with being at a goal weight, is a win-win situation for me.

I was just talking to a lady at my grandson's 1st birthday party. She had the sleeve 2 years ago and is very depressed.

She likes being thin, but she gets depressed because it was so much fun to go to dinner or lunch with friends and even though she is enjoying wearing smaller clothes, she says she wants to cry when she goes out with anyone

knowing she can't eat more than a half a cup of anything.

She had a couple of bites of pizza and a couple of bites of birthday cake and looked like she was about to cry.

I can honestly say that I have been a relatively normal weight and it wasn't all that long ago - heck my clothes are still in style. And I can tell you that her attachment to food is what she's missing. I can't tell you how many times, as an obese person or as a "normal weight" person I went out to dinner and paid so little attention to my food because i was having a GREAT time with friends. Who cares how much you can eat if you're in good company and you're fulfilled? A person who isn't really fulfilled. She can't stuff enough food in to fill that emptiness that she feels anymore and she hasn't fixed what's causing the emptiness. I feel for her, but she needs to find a way to get some help.

The great thing is - I don't have to diet and watch what I eat. I won't be able to sit down and eat an entire cheesecake haha. (Yes, I did that once or twelve times in my life) But I'll be able to have a bite of someone else's who doesn't want to feel guilty for eating an entire piece haha

I'm right there with you daisy. I don't tend to emotional eat - did that while I was married and when I got rid of him, I quit the emotional eating. Coincidence? I don't think so.

However, when I am stressed I do tend to crave chocolate -- not just chocolate but really good dark chocolate -- I won't waste the calories on milk chocolate. So, if I can lose the taste for dark chocolate that will be a definite PLUS!:)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
