blackcherry2002 5 Posted March 19, 2009 Ok so I have to say that normally my body will drop weight very quickly but then stall out...for instance, right before my surgery. I did 3 days of liquid diet...I had started at 265 and 3 days later I was 248...don't know how but whatever....and basically that's how I lose my weight is in short bursts...however...I haven't lost in the last 6 months, so I went to get another fill, I have been pretty tight and haven't consumed very much so I've dropped down from eating 1600 calories a day or more to just 500. Now knowing my body I should have dropped, however the scale hasn't budged... I know people are going to say just wait it out but honestly I know how my body responds and it's just...not? Do you think my thyroid being slightly off would keep the scale from moving despite just a reduced number of calories?
Brockbabe82 0 Posted March 19, 2009 I think a lot of people on here are going to tell you the same thing, 500 calories a day is NOT enough. Are you exercising? Snacking to much? Eating small portions? If you are doing everything right see a nutritionist, maybe they can help you. If you go down all these avenues and are still having trouble then you need to see you surgeon and perhaps you primary care doctor to see what the problem is. Good luck to you and I hope things get better for you.
debbie_7155 0 Posted March 19, 2009 My nutritionist told me NOT to drop below 800 calories a day, so 500 is way too little.. Make sure you are eating all the right foods/drinks & exercise, hope the scales move for you again soon
blackcherry2002 5 Posted March 19, 2009 well that's the thing I'm just not losing what so ever...and I do have hypothyroidism which caused me to gain massive amounts of weight...so I'm wondering if maybe it's not off again...
Jodi_620 37 Posted March 19, 2009 I agree with others, 500 calories is way too low. Yes, thyroid issues can make it impossible to lose weight. Something definitely is not right. You should not have to be on liquids to lose weight and not losing then losing 17 pounds in three days seems odd. Talk to your doctor/dietician and see if you can't get this figured out. JRFAN88 1 Posted March 19, 2009 Please post back if you find anything that helps. I lose weight the same way, really quick at first, then it just stalls. Luckily though this time I have the band so at least I'm not gaining back. In the past this is where I'd say... forget this, it's not working & go on a binge. I have been working out with an awesome trainer for 6 weeks 3 & 4 nights a week & I walk/jog everyday that the weather permits during my lunch hour. I've lost nothing in 6 months either. I'm scheduled for a fill next Monday then I'm going to try the restart diet which is basically the pre-op liquid diet for a week & see if I can break this freakin plateau.
