emurphy 0 Posted March 19, 2009 I had my surgery last Thursday and I also had to pay cash (9990). I was so excited until the last minute and I got really nervous. However, the entire procedure was done in 30 minutes. Surgery was scheduled for 7Am and I was in the car on the way home by 9:30am. Please don't get too nervous, it's not that bad; very quick, simple procedure. Best of Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

emurphy 0 Posted March 19, 2009 I am feeling great!!! The first few day were a litle rough but not unbearable. I used the Gas X dissolvable strips to help relieve the gas pain in my chest and shoulders. I also took milk of magnesia (2 Tbsp) per my dr to help move the gas and to keep away from Constipation. I ended up having an allergic reaction to the pain med so I have done this with no pain med at all. The worst pain was just around the port site when getting up and down. You will be fine!!! Make sure you drink lots of fluids after so you don't get dehydrated also. I am a nurse so I'm trying to think of anything that can make it easier for you. The first few days I wasn't drinking enough so I had my husband get me some sugar free poweraid to help my electrolytes and keep me from getting dehydrated. I'm so excited for you!!! Keep me posted on your progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HappyLoser 0 Posted March 19, 2009 emurphy, I'm taking off work until Monday. I work in an office. Do you think I will be able to go back at that time? Laptastic, Let me know how your surgery goes. My surgeon has only done a few of these surgeries unsupervised. I guess that is one reason I am so nervous.
Laptastic 0 Posted March 20, 2009 Laptastic, Let me know how your surgery goes. My surgeon has only done a few of these surgeries unsupervised. I guess that is one reason I am so nervous. Surgery went fine. A little sore just below my rib cage, a little gas in the shoulder, but otherwise fine. How are you doing with yours?
HappyLoser 0 Posted March 21, 2009 (edited) I am doing fine. They inserted an ON-Q device to slowly deliver a numbing medicine to the port site. I wll be removing that tomorrow. My biggest problem is, I''m Hungry. I thought my stomach would be swollen and I wouldn't want to eat but that hasn't happened. This clear liquid diet isn't very filling. Edited March 22, 2009 by HappyLoser
