Hello, everyone! I too am still waiting for my 2nd fill and not having much restriction but the good news is that the fellowship doc's program is over so I will have to see my actual surgeon next time. Thanks for all your fill stories...I'm sure my next time will be less traumatic....

Fox--I get frustrated with the lack of decrease in the waist area too. My DH said the other day that my wrists were getting smaller. Oh yeah, that's what I was hoping would shrink!! LOL The weight always seems to go in other areas and our waist/hips go last! Hopefully we will both be seeing that happen soon!

Jen-very interesting about your job, I knew you needed degree to work in the lab but I know what you mean about underappreciated...I'm an RN but not at the bedside. I'm a case manager and nobody really knows what we do either...but it is one of the most challenging things I have ever done.

Doodle-saw you over at the "here to help" thread...aren't they a nice group of gals? I really enjoy reading their posts. Makes you feel this will work out after all...

Hang in there everybody! We are shrinking, shrinking.....lol :(

I am having my first fill on Monday via a fluoroscope. I hope it doesn't hurt too much. I am looking forward to the fill because I have been a slow loser, but I am still trying to stay positive. I think I have lost inches more than weight because my clothes are loose and people are noticing my weight loss.

I may swear off mexican food for a while, I felt so gross after dinner tonight that I took the kids out for a walk!! lol I feel guilty for eating fajita nachos - it will be near forever before I do that again!

Thanks JayTee. I feel positive it's just a fatty tissue tumor, but it's always good to check.

Kath, Yeah I think those that are not visible in healthcare (unlike doctors and nurses on the floor) that we tend to be underappreciated because people dont realize what we do and how important it is. But such is life we still love what we do or we would not be doing it...LOL.

I hope things go well for you when you get to see your normal surgeon instead of the fellowship doc. And if your wrists are shrinking well then that will give you an excuse to buy either a new watch or a pretty new bracelet..LOL :)

I guess I have been lucky since my waist is the first place I usually lose my weight. But I think that is because it is the last place I tend to gain. I am much heavier on my lower half than my stomach and I have lost about 3.5 inches from my waist in 2 months. Now if I could just lose that much from my hips and thighs I would be happy. :)

It is funny how different our bodies are in terms of where we lose weight. It was comforting to read that others felt they weren't losing in the waist. I have been thinking there was something wrong with me. I feel very blaoted, and my belly is really sticking out I've lost two or three sizes at the top, but only one size at the bottom, though that's mainly because of the waist situation - the hips and thighs of the pants are getting looser.

Its coming off, just so sloooooooowwwwwwlllllllllyyyyyyyy.

I've hear that we lose fat like melting ice cream - starting at the top working down ward. I have to say, as much as I am looking forward to a smaller waist and body in general - I would of never been down this much weight without the lapband!!

Paxie, Thanks for the reminder about the value of the band and all that comes with it. I know I could never have done it without the band either, even though I'm not getting a lot of restriction, yet. Still it has focused me in a way I've never had before.

I like the ice cream analogy. I have the Realize band, too, and have not had any pbing or the "slime" that people talk about. That's a blessing right there! :(

Good Morning All !! I got my 2nd fill yesterday and I found out that I have a 10cc band and that he will only put in 4cc. The 1st fill, he put in 2cc and yesterday I got .6cc. So NO 4th of July hot dog for me!! I was talking to the co-ordinator about my wt. loss and she said that this may put me in the "sweet spot" because I'm losing the right amount and I've just got to get to where I'm eating the right amount. So , after reading B_G's blog, I'm going to start paying attention to my body. I'm going to try eating less and see if I'm satisfied with that. And btw, B_G, that was an awesome blog !! Everyone have a safe and happy 4th!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
