Hey Hannah... my mom is from Mt Vernon... Anyway.. the only thing i was so thankful for was my lipbalm. lol.. other than normal stuff like-cell phone, ipod or some magazines,,,,, you are gonna want to be sleeping mostly. You wont need a whole lot i imagine if your only staying over night.

I brought my ipod, my cell phone, my own pajamas, and my own socks/underwear. I'd had general before and then couldn't sleep for a day afterwards so I brought some books too just in case, but the pain medicine in the pain pump knocked me out. You should bring something to take your anger out on too because they will bug you to death all day and night long!

Good luck with your surgery Hannah!

I took all of the normals, like everyone has suggested. My NUMBER ONE, SO GLAD I HAD ITEM, was a child's sippy cup. Before surgery I drank a lot of Fluid at one time, and after surgery you have to learn to take small sips. It took one time of forgetting while I was in the hospital that I changed to the sippy cup. I used this for about a week to help me learn to take small sips. I actually found a cup at Walmart in the baby section made by playtex that looked like a small travel coffee mug, not so babyish . This was my lifesaver item.

Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
