Hello, I came across this site on google and was hoping to find other people who have had experience with lap-band surgery. I'm still in my beginning stages of the process and have a lot to learn. I'm starting to adjust both my eating habits and physical activity so that life after surgery will not be a total shock. But it seems to be a slow process to adjust all the bad habits I became accustomed to in my life time. I am ashamed to say I let myself get to 270 lbs. and I would like to rectify the problem before I cause myself some serious health problems. Any and all advise for a newbie is welcomed!

Thanks,

WELCOME....I am pretty new here myself. I am in process to. I started back in Dec and think my surgery will be in May. I started at 280 and am now at 268 (although I am due to go to my nutritionist for a weigh in again soon and have lost more) so don't feel bad. I have also seen people in here much heavier, and much smaller.....every thing you can think of. We are all here for the same reason, however, to get the weight off and get healthy and to help each other along. GL in your journey! Janis

Your doing all the right things so far. I was rather foolish in the beginning as I really didn't prepare myself. My eating habits actually got worse just prior to surgery. The first month for me was rather difficult. But I got passed it and now I am living life and feeling great. Personally I think the best thing to do is start by removing all unhealthy foods from your kitchen now. Fill it with wholesome foods and no high fat Snacks. That way once you start the process you will not be tempted. Follow the nutritional guidelines given to you and make sure you exercise. I feel that the food part will take care of itself having the band as long as you eat healthy and keep up on fills. But the key ingredient to maintain the weightloss is exercise. Find something you enjoy doing and do it often. For me I am offically a runner now. I love the mental and physical walls a person must break through to get to the next level. It challenges me and that's what I love about running. Also very important. Once you get to a stage where you are working out religiously make sure you up your calorie intake. You body needs the fuel to build muscle and to keep your metabolism running high. Always say this to your self prior to eating something you shouldn't. 'What do I get out of eating this'? and if the cons out weigh the pros then its an easy decision. Dont eat it. This is my saying "Food is fuel for your body, nothing more" At least it works for me. Good Luck on your journey!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
