To start with I have contacted my Dr. office for advice but nothing back yet.

I had my surgery on 4 March and know that I am still healing but the port site not the incision site which is below the "port is bulging" (visible without palpation). Some movements cause pain like I would think being stabbed with a knife would be like. If I apply direct pressure I can move around just fine. Do you-all consider this a normal post surgery condition or should I be more concerned and hound the Dr. office for an answer. I am inclined to just wait for them to contact me or for my appt. with my PCP on Thursday.

I am not sure about the bulging. I had a little swelling which I was told was fine as long as there is no seepage or severe redness.

Pain is normal. I had almost no pain with the other four incisions but the port-site incision was quite painful. Although it improved every day, it took about a month to completely go away and even after that, certain movement could cause a little pain.

Thanks that is what I was hoping that the issue was and not a problem. Like I said I know I just had surgery and should expect some pain.

No problem, I remember being a little alarmed by the pain of that incision too. Just watch for signs of infection (swelling, seepage), Your doc will probably take a good look at it on Thursday. Good Luck!

Hi harold,, had the same issue, my scar was almost concave but I had a huge bulge to the side of it,, when the nurse called to check in on me she told me the port was stitched very tightly to a muscle and it causes the swelling,, and I'm assuming the horrid pulling feeling when you move just the wrong way. I'm only having pain now when I try to lift something on my left side, and its just a dull ache when I sit too long.. be glad when it is gone so I don't have to think about it at all! My incisions are losing their last bit of dry tissue and some you can't even see anymore.. the horrible bruise from the shot to prevent blood clots is still purple and black, it creeps my kids out!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
