Are there any 30 something recent bandsters out there in the Cincy area? I was banded today and would love a local friend to hang and learn with!

Hi, Im Amie. We are moving to Centerville this June, my husband is in the AF being stationed at Wright Patt. I have been banded since Sept 08, out here in SLC. How are you doing so far? Im actually looking for a band surgeon in that area to transfer to and do fills. How do you like your doctor? Is the office good, do they offer alot of support? Its scary going from one doc that knows you so well, to another one that knows nothing about you!

Hello!

This is my first post (on any kind of board), but I couldn't contain myself!

I found out today that my surgery was approved through my insurance!! I am so excited (and scared).

I have been seeing Dr Curry in Evendale. I am very impressed with the whole office. The whole process has gone so smoothly. The only issue I have was how long it has taken, but that was the insurance company's fault.

My seminar was April 15th, the consult/Psych eval was May 13th, and I was approved on June 8th. I hope to have surgery on July 13th.

I'm not looking forward to the 2 week liquid diet.

I weigh 236 right now.

Melissa

I'm in the Cincy area and wanted to say hello! Dr. Curry banded me in February 2007. I unfortunately just recently was able to start really utilizing my band because I decided to have two babies! : ) Would love to have a buddy in the area to help me out too, so feel free to keep in touch!

Take care,

Kristi

Hi, im in dayton, had surgery on march 5th, looking for buddy's people that understand the struggle...

Hi Everyone,

Maddy- I am in Dayton, too!

I have a tentative banding date of July 18th, as long as everything goes smoothly. I am seeing Dr Curry in Cinci also!

How is your life altering event treating you??? :-) Im sure things are difficult. Its going to be really tough at first.... Theres so many emotions I feel: excited, scared, happy, depressed, annoyed that my insurance wont cover it, but thankful that i at least have a job so i can pay for it myself... so many different emotions! Ive been trying to change my way of eating already so i can be ready when its done. I only have to do one week of a pre-op diet, but Ive read on here that people are really thankful for their 3month or 6 month supervised diets (after the fact, ususally, lol). Are there any support groups in Dayton that you know of that may be free to attend? I would also like to start excercising so im used to that also, i just have yet to start.... i dont like being sweaty, but i guess ill have to suck it up :o. so far on my personal pre-op diet ive lost 14 pounds, with the help of my family doc who suggested i take adipex until the procedure. My surgeon agreed it was a good idea. How has all of your liquid/mushy phases gone? Any personal (cheap) Protein supplement advice?

I really hope you are all doing well- i would LOVE to hear from any of you!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
