I have nothing to lose but my big butt ;)~

I found this forum a few weeks ago when I was contemplating the procedure. Well I went to a seminar at True Results in San Antonio March 5th and decided to do it!! My insurance is BCBS of Illinois and they require a 6 month weight management program which I can do through True Results. I also have to do the nutrition consult (not covered by insurance), psych eval, sleep study and chest x-ray but I don't mind if it gets me to my goal. The best thing about my insurance is my out of pocket cost... $500, that's it! I know a few others who have done it and they had to cover from $1,000 to $2,500 so I'm super happy :) So I have to wait 6 month but at least that will be more money in my pocket for my new wardrobe :)

Anyway, I hope to make some new friends here and can't wait to lost the weight...

Yeah someone else that has Bc/bs of Ill...how did you find out that it will only be 500 bucks?? They just gave me this whole mumbo jumbo about no deductable and then 85/15 for both hospital and doctor..That will be super if it is only 500 bucks...

I have only gone to my seminar on 3/11 and now I have to go to my Dr. to start the weight loss 6 month sentance. I have about 140 to lose..depending on if I want to be 150 or 140..haven't decided yet... Deener:lol:

Deener... I am going through a True Results Center and they have been doing everything with my insurance company. They told me that everything is covered except for the nutritionist appt which totals to about $200 for three appts and then my total costs will be $500... The office staff was high-fiving me because they said that I have great insurance. All my appointments are scheduled through True Results and I am using them as my 6 months of medically supervised program that's required for the insurance. From reading on this forum, I've noted that some people have to look for a nutritionist or psychologist on their own... I'm so glad I found this center because it will make everything go smoother. I have an appt tomorrow with my surgeon and I'm going to ask again about the insurance just to be sure.

My boyfriend is also going through this but he has Aetna and has to pay $1500, but he only needs to complete 3 months of the weight loss program... as agonizing as it is to wait, I'd rather do it and have more cash in my pocket... and I'm glad he's going first so that I can see what it's like before I go through it... I'll let him be the guinea pig, hehe :sneaky:

I had my appt with my surgeon, Dr John Gonzales today and I double-checked on the insurance coverage and I was correct, I am only responsible for $500!!! I asked why it's different for someone else who might also have BCBS of Illinois and I was told that it depends on the plan the employer has chosen. I love my job :tt2: But it doesn't surprise me because this company is big on staying healthy and we even have a free gym membership at one of the most expensive clubs here in town... of course even that didn't get me to keep going to the gym, hehe... but I have started back this week...

This is my first post on here... First of all I love the screen name Wonderwmn. I just got back from my friends bday party and I got her the original Wonder Woman cartoon. :tongue_smilie: Anyways. I am going through the Legacy Obesity Institute in Portland Oregon and my insurance requires me to go through the 6 month program as well. I have 100 1bs to loose. I have a $1000 oop. I went to my 2nd appt on March the 3rd. I plan on getting my surgery in late Aug due to working around a softball tournament I will be playing in. I am excited about this. I have friends that have done it and I have seen a couple of them loose 80-110 lbs. When I went to my 2nd appt I was up 3 lbs though. Kind of wondering how that happened.

How do you make the ticker?

Hi hteadtbear... as for the ticker, just click on mine and it should take you to the website where you can create your own... once you get the code, paste it under your signature.

I have the biggest thing for Wonder Woman... my cubicle at work is decorated with her, when I was a director with Mary Kay, our unit was Jenny's Wonder Women... she's like my hero and one of my goals is to dress like her for Halloween 2010, well I could do that now but I don't want to be the 'fat Wonder Woman', hehe...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
