Approved last week - First surgeon visit today!!!

I have been trying to get approved for over a year.....got new insurance and finally got approved....I go to my surgeons office today for the first visit and start my 6 months of going to the doctor.....I am scared now I guess you could say so any great advice would be appreciated.....Thanks this site is wonderful!!!

Congratulations! I understand the challenge. I have been trying to get insurance approval; only to find out the insurance had sent me to the wrong department the entire time so I was completing all the requirements with no hope of every having insurance approval.

I went through a psychological evaluation, appointments with surgeons, the nutritionist up to a point of actually scheduling the surgery to be crushed.

The upside of this is I have had to put everything on hold now in order to fight the economy and my other half and I into full time "stable" jobs. We both have excellent health insurance and mine now covers the lap band with only a letter from my doctor. I couldn't believe it, the woman from the insurance company started laughing when I asked her again for the third time.

So patience and diligence gets you everywhere....I am in the process of meeting with my doctor tomorrow. Meeting with the surgeon next week...and hopefully being back on track of life very soon!

I understand the ups and downs and I am truly, truly excited for you!!
