Could my band have slipped?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Maybe some of you long time lap bandsters can help me out. I'm about to have my bandaversery next month and am very happy with my progress, even though it has been slow I keep moving in the right direction. I had gotten to the point where I though I should probably go in for another fill. Just starting to be able to eat more, especially in the evenings when the snack monster strikes. All of a sudden, it feels like I did get another fill, quite a tight one, and food is getting stuck more often then it did before. Nothing has changed as far as my diet or exercise, everything just feels tighter. Has this happened to anyone before? I'm not complaining, it feels like I got a fill and it didn't cost me anything:thumbup: but was a little concerned that something might have slipped to cause this feeling after almost a year. I look forward to hearing from you all.

Sally

It could be so many things. Anything from a little stress in your life causing more restriction to a slip. The only true way to diagnose it is to get a fluoro exam.

The problem is that everything changes restriction, absolutely everything. Time of day, time of month, stress, weather, food temp, hydration levels, everything. So it's impossible to tell what is going on.

Do you have access to an upper GI? Will insurance pay for it?

I am not trying to scare you, but this is EXACTLY what happened with me...and I did have a band slip.

I highly recommend going in for an upper gi immediately to find out for sure. the last thing you want to do is go around with a slipped band...

Good luck, I hope it's not what happened to me...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
