Will I ever get restriction?????

Recommended Posts

It seems as though I was doing fine until my first fill. After that I seemed to be able to eat anything and everything. So I called and got another fill...........same problem, so tomorrow I go for another hopefully I will get some kind of restriction. I have gained a couple of pounds and really do not want to see the scaled going in that direction. Any advise would be appreciated

:)

darn I thought you were going to be like me...I'm 8cc's in a 10cc band and I can sometimes not eat even two bites and I start getting pain but that's usually in the morning...by night time I can basically almost eat as much as I want...it's horrible...

Hang in there. It will get better. I am six months out and I still barely have restricition. I have a 10 CC band and are at 8 CC's right now. I am getting closer to restriction each time. It is just a process we have to go through.

I am also one of those people who in the morning have good restriction, but at night, can still eat way too much.

I'm really watching my calories close now, but still no scale movement. Heck I'm now going on one month with little or no weight loss, but my clothes are definitely looser?

I was so hungry last night I just knew I was going to over eat but NOPE the band was making the decisions last night and showed me a thing or two. When you get to restriction (your sweet spot) you will be on the road to forgetting this post ever happen good luck!!!!!!

Water is about 7# a gallon, a quart retained, for whatever reason, can account for nearly 2#...........

Funny I came across this Jack, I have Diabetes Insipidus which they call "water diabetes" we LOVE Water and can drink up to a gallon of water in less than 2 hours, so interesting that it weighs so much never knew that. So on my days that the medication does NOT get absorbed into my nose (that is how I take it) I tend to drink alot of water that day hence the reason I am weighing so much then next day! Thanks for the info!!!!

I'm going for the 4th fill tomorrow. I currently have 6cc's in my 10cc band. I felt restriction after this last fill for a couple of days, then it disappeared. Honestly, there has to be some kind of feeling to the band.....I feel nothing!

As soon as you get to your sweet spot,if your eating healthy nutrition food the weight will just drop off. Well that is how it was for me...

I started to feel some restriction after my 5th fill and after my 6th fill in Jan BINGO I had restriction I had finally arrived at SWEET SPOT CENTRAL!!!! I lost about 22 pounds the first 4-6weeks then 4.5 pounds in 3 months and when I got to my sweet spot lost 11 pounds in 2 months, which I am just over the moon about.

Some days I can eat vegies and a small steak or lamb for dinner and other days I can only have a few small bites, its really strange. I found it frustrating at first on the days when I could only eat tiny amount cause my head kept pushing me,but after about ten times of pushing it and throwing up several times and being in pain (I get cronic back pain between my shoulder blades if I eat to much) I got over it. Oh and I can't eat chicken for some reason even if its really juicy or in sauce. I hope this all helps a little bit.

LAPBANDED 3rd Sept 2008

1st 2cc (6 or 7 weeks post op)

2nd 2cc

3rd 1cc

4th 1.5cc

5th 1cc

6th 1cc

Total 8.5cc

(Now restricted and at my sweet spot in a 9cc Realize band)

Yes you have to help the band a bit and eat right.

I CAN NOT eat chcken for the life of me. Although when at Olive Garden yesterday I was able to order the chicken alfredo without the noodles and I tell you I savored every 5 pieces of chicken and it went down and was very good!!!!! Now today I can barely get Soup down ugh...it's touch and go if you ask me!

Sounds great. I hope it comes to me soon as well! It should be effortless...you just don't want to eat as much and that's it...no hunger...

I too am beginning to wonder when I will feel restriction. I went for my 3rd fill today - now a total of 5.5ccs. I just have a feeling this fill won't have much restriction either. So far I have felt a little restriction about 2-3 days after the fill, but then none what so ever after that. :-/

Have to say I am somewhat disappointed, had my first fill this past Friday and I feel nothing! Zip, zilch! He put in 3.7, but I swear I have eatten more in the last two days than I have in a long time. I am hungry now....... He told me to give the fill some time, and if necessary come back in. Is it too soon to call them and see about getting another fill? I have lost 50# since being banded, certainly don't want to start heading in the wrong direction. Help!!

I am scheduled for my 2nd fill this Thursday. I am still not as restricted as I thought I would be but I look back at how much food I use to eat and see a significant difference. There are certain foods that I can eat more of and certain foods I just can't eat very much. I can't eat just about anything without any problems just not as much. I can say a 6 inch sub finally fills me where I use to eat an entire 12 inch. I still think the fact that I can eat a 6 inch sub is way too much but in the meantime, I make pretty wise food choices and continue to stay on track with my fills. I hope the 2nd provides more restriction. I am also pretty good at putting my fork down as soon as I am satisfied. I have not been stuffed in such a long time and I don't want to be as I remember that terrible feeling.

I don't know what my doctor is doing! I'm starting to think maybe I have a disconnected port....as the fill isn't staying. I'm going tonight. I HATE THIS.

Sure enough...I went for my 4th fill (1.5cc) for a total of 7.5 cc and now I can hardly swallow Water. I'm extremely stressed out and anxious about this. My chest feels heavy and everything I drink comes back up. I'm going for a defill tomorrow afternoon.....THANK GOD! I also had reflux through the night....whatever I did manage to keep down (soup wise and water wise) it came up through the night! I HATE THIS

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
