I'm a twin - I was banded on 3/25 in Georgetown KY. My first appointment for post op and fill is 4 weeks. April 24th.

I have very very little restriction if any.

I panic daily that I'm eating too much.

Can't wait for fill.

Good luck fellow TWINS!!!

I think I'm eating too much too, but it is a far cry from what I used to eat.

I'm eating small portions, I think and good food for me. Lots of Protein. My doc isn't as strict on how long you stay on different stages.

I don't feel any restriction. They told me not to weight but it's so hard.

I started out at 1 1/2 wks out losing about 8-9 lbs., but now 2 weeks out I have only lost 6 lbs - I dunno I'm frustrated.

My port site has a 3 1/2" incision and my port is just barely under skin, like a knot there all the time. My pants bind it and it hurts. Don't know what to do about that. I kindof wish I had done the gastric, kindof impossible not to lose the weight.

So confused. I feel like I don't even have a band and I'm doing everything right - at least I think I am.

I'm only eating between 600 - 800 per day, low carbs and fat.

NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

susan - welcome to the group ! i was banded 3/25 in cleveland ohio.

ny - i just started on mushies yesterday. i probably ate too much because my stomach felt "full" for 90 minutes LOL. i get my first fill on 4/24, which is 4 wks + 2 days post surgery.

is everyone getting their 1st fill? i had mine on friday 4/24. 4 weeks + 2 days after surgery. my doc gave me 4cc's. he asked me to drink a small cup of Water afterwards. i drink about 75% of it and then started feeling pressure. he said he wanted to give me an aggressive fill since i was doing so well, but he was a little too aggressive. he had to remove 1/2 cc. so i have 3.5 cc's of saline. after our fill, he makes us go back on liquids for 48 hours. so tomorrow around noon, i should know if it's working !

So how are you?

I'm not scheduled for a fill for a couple of weeks mostly due to scheduling in the surgeon's office. Bummer.

One month out, I'm feeling good. I can eat nearly anything, in moderation. I've only run across one moment where I knew I ate too fast/didn't chew well enough. I've only lost around 11lbs post op, but I'm not worried about that, since I know I'm eating well.

Since I have to hold out for nearly 3 more weeks before my 1st fill, and I'm betting she's not going to be very aggressive with it, I'm going to have to buckle down and get my head back into the game and really watch what I'm eating, so I can work on losing a few pounds on my own.

Always ;-)

i'll be honest, i was surprised he did the fill at 4 wks post op.

so now that i have had a fill, i do feel the restriction. i feel is when i eat too much food too fast, and i've felt it when i ate dry chicken (never again). i can eat more than 1.5 cups of food at a meal, but try not to.

most days i have a Protein shake for Breakfast. then i have cut up chicken, with mushrooms, peas, cheese and salad dressing. then for dinner, usually some sort of chicken dish. i have yet to try bread. i'm afraid LOL. i have had some croutons, those were not a problem. and today, i ate part of a flour tortilla. that was not a problem either. probably because it's unlevened. my friend cathy had fruit and said it disagreed with her.

i'll say one thing --- this sure is an adventure !

It is nice to hear that I am not the only one going thruogh this. I am frustrated that I am hungry. I want to eat less, but I am honestly eating just fine... no restrictions at all. I hope to get to see my doctor soon (he's been in the states for a few weeks) so I can get my first fill. Thanks for the input from the rest of you - I think 4cc is too much for a first fill, and although I want to be aggresive, I don't want to hurt. I will ask for 3 or 3.5cc fill and hope he is open minded.

I have found out that if I eat too fast (like I ate the last two bits of my son's hot dog, old habits die hard) I get that "Iron fist" feeling and throw it up. I read that a good rule of thumb is to chew 25 times. Anything that is worthy of chewing, needs to be chewed 25 times.

I read Before and After and I think I maybe should have gone the RNY route... I don't think I am strong enough to do this with just the lap-band. There is a lady on this post that had RNY 6 months ago and I watch her melting away... she told me she can get full with just eating a piece of pizza - I can still eat the whole thing (it's an Italian personal pizza, not an American "big" pizza).

I am on a very high Protein, low carb diet. No Pasta, no bread, no rice, no potatoes, no Cereal. The only carbs I get are in the high protien things I eat. I have to watch the carbs in hidden things though... K20 is a 5grams of Protein Drink that actually tastes good. What I didn't realize (note to self - read labels) is that those 5 grams of Protein come with 13 grams of carbs... not worth it!!! All they had to do was make it with Splenda and it would have been 0 carbs...frustrating. Back to unsweetened ice tea.

How are the rest of you?

we have to give this time. it takes a few fills before they find the 'sweet spot.' just remember that we are losing weight slower than the bypass people, which means, it's better for our skin tone.

hang in there !!!

I've finally found you... I too was banded on 3/25/09 and am curious to see how it's going for you all since that day?

Just a bit about me.

Im married, father of 2, 5'11" and looking forward to weighing around 200lbs or so.

I live in Newark, NJ and am trying to get to the gym as much as possible. I am swimming 2-3 times a week and biking when the days are nice.

I eat alot of what I used to, just smaller portions, and oh btw, I am sill processing my foods... It seems to work better for me as far as controlling my hunger and I've noticed a drop when I do this so I go with the flow on this. I am taking suppliments also such as whey protien shakes, creatine shakes. Multi-viatamins, Vitamin d, and lots and lots of Water, except that I like the Walmart brand flavors (sweeter than crystal light imho).

Well thats it for me for now.

Ben

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
