ONE WEEK UNTIL THE BIG DATE>>WELCOMING ANY TIPS

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I am on the countdown now. I am nervous and excited! I work in a hospital and have for 14 years but I am a chicken when it comes to surgery.

I figure I would ask you guys what are some of the things you needed after surgery that you forgot to get before surgery. I am buying Gas-x and glycerine suppositories today. I read in a thread that the gas sometimes can be HELL, so I am trying to prepare.

Please hip me to some of the things that you all did in preparation for the surgery. I am already praying that helps alot. I love this sight you all have a friend in me and I feel the same. I never thought that I would get so much support from people who don't even know me and so little support from people I have known all of my life. Thank you all for what you do!!!

Suggestions, suggestions, suggestions please.

Your friend,

Dee Dee

Honestly, the only three things that I packed which I actually used was my pillow, light robe and my chapstick....used a toothbrush/paste supplied by hospital, stay in the hospital gown, they had non-slip socks for me, etc....I went home in the same (loose, comfy) clothing I came in!

Good luck....the key to all this surgery stuff is STAY HAPPY, PLEASANT and KEEP A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR...the experience is much more pleasant for you and the staff this way!!! I actually miss some of my nurses and especially miss my wonderful voluneeter helper...she was so sweet...

Dee Dee -

Good luck on your surgery. I will pray for a speedy recovery for you. The only advice I can give you is to expect gas and bloatiness after surgery (especially 2-3 days after). The only other advice I can give you is to walk, walk, walk as much as you can after your surgery and after the nurses say it's okay for you to get up. It always hurt to walk at first, but after the first 30 seconds or so, it felt so good.

Best wishes,

Tricia

Thanks you guys! I truly appreciate all of your words of encouragement. I found this site just by typing in lapband in my search bar. Who would have thought I should have just typed THE Greatest Lapband Support Site out there. My mom is excited for me and she is glad I found people that I can talk to about this decision. I have a birth defect that is facial it is a hemangioma with a port wine stain. It makes my face appear to be bigger on one side. My PS said that when I lose about 80 or 90lbs it will be less noticeable. I don't take pictures because of it and the fact that I am overweight. I am excited for the first time in my life to take a picture( a before picture). I am even more excited to do the after picture. Thanks to all of you guys I am more confident with alot of other things in my life. This is the beginning of the newest chapter in my life and all of you are invited to read it.

wear comfy clothes, don't wear a bra if you don't need one. If you need something to corral the girls, a tight t-shirt or tank top..

get some trashy novels, what ever flavor you like, trashy DVDs...

Take naps, eat popcicles and don't worry

I'm excited for you! Very good question!

Someone was telling me yesterday about a gastro tube that they can put through your nose, (while your out) and that it is good to keep while you are in the hospital, it is suposed to be a life saver for gas pains. Has anyone had this or heard of it?

I'm thinking of you DeeDee

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
