Hello all!

I am having issues with my band and need your help.

I have a 4 cc band and only had a 1cc fill. At night after falling a sleep I started to cough and vomit in my sleep. I even stop breathing altogether. (very scary) This was happening every night no matter how early or late I would eat my last meal, and even when I tried doing a liquid diet. I didn't feel like I had any restriction when eating at all. I went in for an unfill, and am doing much better now, but I am not at or anywhere near goal. Also, I don't want to gain back the 70 pounds that I have lost.

Has this happened to anyone else, or does anyone know why this might have happened??

I have an apt for Thursday to get scoped, but I am so worried that I may never be able to get another fill and gain my weight back...

Hi NONNI

It sounds like you might be too tight. I think the scope is a good idea to see if there is any kind of blockage. What kinds of foods are you eating? Keep the faith this band will continue to work for you. Let me know how it turns out.

thanks for the reply!

I have been keeping up with the normal band diet. You know no breads, pasta's or really any kind of carbs. lots of Protein, fish, chicken & beans! I am just worried that at 1cc I don't have any restriction, and now that is gone. I am hopping I can get a fill soon and more than 1cc so I can start losing again, I have just been maintaining for the past few months. I still want to lose 50 more pounds. It is so discouraging thinking I may not be able to have a fill without having these problems.

Hi,

Iam new and have had a band for 4 years. I have lost 60 lbs. I have over eaten at times and my pouch still has restriction. I have had a overfill once and oh my gosh you can tell. I felt like I was having a heart attack!! I was afraid to go to the emergency room because I thought they would not treat me because I got my lapband in Mexico. I waited until the next morning and drove 2 hrs. to my fill Dr. I have had a lot of vomiting with my band does anyone out there expierece that?

Keep up the faith I have had alot of ups and downs.

It's happened to me a few times since being banded. Since the vomiting-I call it a spill over- comes during sleep then that means I still have food in my esophogas/pouch. I just ensure I don't have any when I go to bed. So if I want to eat ribs, I have to have them for Breakfast or lunch-never dinner.

But if you don't eat anything and have absolutely nothing on your stomach and still have it happen...it's your fluids and you need to get to your doctor. An unfill may be in order.

Just stick with it....takes a while to get things going smoothly and sometimes when it does.... it may not last long and things have to be tweaked again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
