A little about my journey, so far.

Recommended Posts

I have never blogged anywhere before so I apologize if I get it wrong. I was banded on Jan 15, 2009. My weight was 230 the day of surgery and is now 213, 6 weeks out. Only 4 of my friends/family know that I've been banded. I have had 3 fills so far, my last one 2 days ago. I don't feel restricted enough, but I do eat a lot less. I had a difficult time not drinking during or right after meals, but I think I have it under control now. I'm getting used to eating slower and chewing well, it hurts when I don't, but not for long. My biggest challenge right now is not eating between meals. I eat small amounts, but I can eat often. I am getting a little frustrated with waiting for my sweet spot to be found and can't wait until I get that feeling of satiety. I am really tight in the mornings and long to have that feeling all day.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
