Female Help Please

Recommended Posts

Hey all...I have a question.. I use to never get my monthly until I was on birth control. Which I hear can be typical for a person overweight. Well I came off the pill for surgery plus I had some other things going one and the dr wanted me to come off for a few months. So here is the problem. I am getting my monthly every other week. Really every other Saturday it starts....Like clockwork and it is lasting 5 - 8 days just in time for me start back. What is wrong with me? Has anyone else had this happen to them? I go the OB on thursday not sure if he can tell me or not..

Help...this is getting old!!!!

AS far as I know you perfectly fine & within a few more weeks you should start to even out. Its normal for your body to go through changes when coming off of certain meds & regiments. The best thing is to talk with your Doc- But I say your just fine:0)

Fat holds onto estrogen, and you've just lost a huge amount of weight. So you've recently had a large amount of estrogen dumped into your system.

Call your doc.

I had something similar happen to me. Not when I was banded, but when I was on WW and lost 25 lbs. in 6 weeks. In my case, I never did stop --not even for a day. It sucked!!! After about 6 months of trying different hormones, etc., my OB/GYN finally gave me a D&C and now I'm regular again. What a relief!!!

Let us know what your doctor tells you and good luck.

Tricia

This happened to me when I was first banded (and I was stillon birth controll too). It has to do (or so I was told) with the fact that you have a huge amount of estrogen stored in the fat and as you loose weight that estrogen is released into the blood stream and sets of a cycle to start. Mine took about 9 months to stop this- there was no problem (I asked the doctore (ob/gyn) to check- it just stoped on its own one day! It really sucked- but now I have the first regular 28 day cycles of my life (since I ever cared in that respect anyways) and it is "normal flow and minimal pain- it is so great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
