Hi everyone,,,,I was banded on September 11, 2008 and I have lost 50 lbs so far. I have been happy overall with my results. I come from a family of several gastric bypasses and I was the first to be banded and I don't know anyone else who has the band. My weight loss has slowed from the initial speedy weight loss but they told me that it would. I have had two adjustments but I still don't have a lot of saline in my band. I am having some gall bladder or ulcer trouble at the moment and as soon as I get that resolved I will probably have another adjustment. Has anyone else had trouble with ulcers or gall bladder following surgery? I have just been interested to hear others perspectives on this.

Hi, it is great to hear stories from people farther out than myself. I was just banded on Monday the 9th. So far, day by day is getting better. Had to rough days, but all in all I am not regretting my decision. It is really great what you have done so far, and I am sure you will do even better. I know I am just new at this but I am looking forward to my new life. Thank you for sharing yours.

Best Wishes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared2:

I think many people have problems with their gallbladder after any significant weight loss. Some surgeons even remove the gallbladder when they put the band on. I wish mine would've, but he didn't. I am not having problems yet, and hopefully I won't. You are off to a good start. I hope your ulcer and gallbladder problems clear up soon.

I'm preBand and they found stones in my gallbladder during preop testing. My Dr. won't remove it during my band surgery so I had the option gallbladder out before band or ball bladder out after band heals. I told them I'd wait. For many of us issues with gallbladder issues are not unusual.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
