2nd Annual Arizona Kuri Patient Social is coming up on March 26th!

Last February Dr. Kuri held his first ever Arizona Kuri Patient Social. He was so delighted to see his patients, that he committed right then and there to make it a yearly event. So, as promised...he's coming back!

Please join us!

We invite you to join Dr. Kuri, and a few of his staff for the 2009 Arizona Kuri Patient Social. The event will be similar to last year, with a few improvements to the format and the food. Included in the format will be a general Band discussion led by Dr. Kuri for his Post-Op Patients, opportunities for Questions and Answers at the group level, an invitation for patients to share their stories in an effort to get to know each other, and individual one-on-one time privately with Dr. Kuri. To RSVP for the event, simply fill out the RSVP Form on our Upcoming Events Page.

Event Details

Who are invited: All are welcome

When: March 26, 2009; from 4:00pm - 9:00pm

Where: Hilton Garden Inn, Phoenix Airport

Cost: None - It's Free!

Our goals for the event are to provide you the opportunity:

  • To enjoy good food and conversation with your surgeon

  • To expand your network of fellow Bandsters in your area
  • To share your experience with fellow patients who may be struggling
  • To personally gain the benefits of other Bandsters' experience
  • To help others who are newly Banded or are considering surgery
  • To bring friends or family that may benefit from the group interaction

Please bring your friends or family that may be interested in the Lap-Band

Although this is not a seminar, Dr. Kuri asks that you please invite any family and friends who are interested in the Lap-Band. They will have the opportunity to chat with Dr. Kuri himself, meet other Kuri patients, and be exposed to what it's like living life with the Lap-Band.

How do I RSVP for the Event?

To RSVP for the event, simply visit our Upcoming Events Page and fill out the RSVP Form. Once you've submitted the form, keep your eyes peeled for a confirmation email containing more details about the event.

Have questions about the Event?

If you have questions about the event, simply email us at sdoffice@lapbandsurgery.com, or contact Eveleine Currier at (760) 427-2525.

We hope you will join us for the 2nd Annual Kuri Patient Social! And remember, I'm always here for you - Please don't hesitate to contact me when the need arises.

Warm regards,

Eveleine Currier

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
