I don't really think you're supposed to try to diet while on mushies....it's more important to eat soft things that are easy to chew and digest, so you can heal. Trust your doc's advice!

I made chicken and tuna salad and homemade chill put through a food processor. Refried Beans with cheddar and sour cream is good too.

SF dark chocolate pudding has been the best thing for keeping my eating under control since banding. I started eating it during the mushies phase and still eat at least one most nights before I go to bed.

After the strictly liquid requirements go to yogurt (I have fallen in love with Oikos Greek Yogurt at 16g of protein). It takes a bit to get used to greek yogurt but the texture is like frosting. Cottage cheese, refried Beans, mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables that are soft - zucchini works well. Green giant has boxes like "Immunity Boost" which are the perfect size for banded folks like us. Bananas are perfect and cantaloupe. Good ol' Campbells chicken noodle Soup is always great if you're feeling constricted! Take it nice and slow and don't rush - ever. Don't EVER take big bites without chewing thorougly!! I took a huge bite of banana once when I was rushing around and wasn't paying attention! I paid dearly with pain for about 6 hours! Take your time and eat small bites and chew chew chew before swallowing. Good luck!

Fat-free ricotta with one packet of splenda and a splash of vanilla extract. mix it up and enjoy...tastes just like italian cannoli cream!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
