1st Fill Next Wednesday, March 18th!!

Recommended Posts

I'm so excited and nervous for my first fill on Wednesday. I have heard that it can be really painful for the fills, but I'm excited to finally start losing some weight. I've only lost about 10 lbs. since my surgery, which is still good, but I lost that around the first to second week after surgery. Pretty much on a plateau now. I'm currently 5 weeks out from surgery. How are fills for everyone else?! Any words of advise?

Fills aren't painful for me...it's a shot, but big deal. I don't LIKE them but I've stubbed my toe and that hurt way more for a LOT longer. Just remember...your first fill may not do much! (not to be a downer, just a gentle reminder) My doc is really conservative with fills and I didn't feel anything until # 4....so be nice to yourself and remember it's a process! Good luck!

I agree with the post above. You dont need a needle to numb the spot. I heard that needle is worse. I have had three fills and there is a small pinch going in and a little pressure coming out. It also depends on the person giveing the fills. The first two were done by a physician's assistant and were great. The 2rd was done by my doc and he hurt. Go figure. But listen, everyone's experience is different. But dont worry. It will be fine. Its a small price to pay for such a big payoff. Also, my fills didnt give me restriction until the 3rd time. I really got what I wished for. My doc says he is aiming for 4 fills in the first year. Good luck

The first fill is usually the worst. It is unknown and you are nervous. But, the needle part doesn't hurt, just a poke like any other. What might be the worst part is when the doctor is probing your port site (with his hands) to find exactly where to stick you. Your incisions and such are not fully healed yet on the inside and this part WILL probably hurt, so be prepared. Just relax, breathe easy and close your eyes. Hopefully yours will be an easy one and it will be over in about 2-3 minutes. Good luck!!!

I, too am getting a first fill March 18th after my Feb 9th banding. I am not sure of what to expect, but hope I don't end up too tight as I am doing well with virtually no restriction. Once in a while it does remind me it's there yet. I want to be able to continue to enjoy all foods if possible. I dont fear the needle so much as the fear of PB's which I have experienced once since banding and many times prior from a spastic esophagus in the last year. I've done little to slow my intake and extend chewing and fear I may pay a dear price after 1st fill. At times I wonder if I should use my band with fill restriction only after stop meaningful weight loss without it. I am excited, nervous and hopeful about the first fill.

I had my 1st fill this past thurs.:scared2: I was so nervous only because I wasn't sure what to expect I even had my daughters come along, Wasn't bad at all! he did numb it 1st and before I knew it he was done. what a good 1st fill. I don't feel much restriction, I think he put in 11/2 cc's cause there was already 11/2 in there, I am so glad to finally being on this part of the banding, don't worry everything will go fine and after it's all said and done you'll probably wonder why you were even worried. Good Luck!!:crying:

I am getting my first fill on April 13th. Like you, I've been eating just about whatever I want (less, of course) with no problems and I've lost 32 lbs since my banding on Feb. 9th. I am looking forward to the fill but wonder if / how long I must go back to all liquids.< /p>

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
