spunky 0 Posted August 23, 2005 I was banded on 8/16/05 and went back to work today 8/21. I was a little tired after an eight hour day, but I felt fine all day.
tinalondon 0 Posted August 23, 2005 I only took 4 days and I needed 10 days. I'm back at work for 2 weeks, and I'm glad I took the time. I had, like you only 4 day vacations left, so I didn't get paid. But I just couldn't go back. I was so tired. I had my sergery Aug 2nd and today I feel great. Good luck! wannabskinny2 0 Posted August 23, 2005 I was banded on 06-16-05 and went back 3wks later to the day. My doctor told me to take the time off and my company approved it with pay so I ran with it!
Judy D. 0 Posted August 23, 2005 Thanks everyone!!! I feel so much better. Based on your responses, I think I'll be ok with the 4 vacation days. As princess stated, I would have to let my job knows why I am taking FMLA which is unpaid. I am not ready for anyone at my job to know my plans and I need to get paid!!. piercedqt78 658 Posted August 23, 2005 I was not allowed to drive for 10 days. I think it had something to do with not being able to turn and look over my shoulder quickly. I was released to retun to work and driving on the 8th day at my post-op visit, mainly because that was the last time I would be seen for 6-8 weeks. I could have gone to work but I am a stay at home mom. I was cleaning (light stuff) 4 days after surgery. My doc also has a lifting restriction of 15 pounds for 4 weeks. And they say to take 10 days off work but most return sooner. I was shopping and walking to the park 5 blocks from my home on day 3. When you get ready to return to work just make sure you have on comfortable pants, I know that sounds really stupid but the waistline of pants can get really bothersome on a new port incision. I wore the wrong pants to my post-op visit that was a 40 min car ride with traffic and I was miserable, they were great standing, but once I got in the car I knew I was going to regret that choice. So comfy pants and liquid tylenol and you should be good to go. ~Mandy
