Really want a fill..

Recommended Posts

Ok, so it's only been about 2 weeks (it will be 2 weeks on Friday) since I got my surgery, but I really want a fill to keep myself in check. I started mushies and my weight loss kind of stopped, so I'm hoping a fill will help with that. I know it's only been two weeks, but I'm ready for this weight to come off and I can't do that while I can eat more than I'm supposed to be able to. So has anyone heard of doctors giving fills after only 2 weeks?

Mine won't. It's too early. This isn't bypass....you need to heal first. It will happen!

I've never heard of a doctor giving a fill 2 weeks after surgery. Like Restless said - this is your time for healing. It is hard, but you can do it. Just focus on healing and trying to eat what you should, and not what you could. It will get better. Good luck to you!! Becky

Yeah, it would be crazy to get an adjustment this early. In only two weeks, the internal sutures have not had time to heal. Just like eating solids too soon, getting a fill this early would risk you slipping the band. The band needs to heal in place properly so that you will have success. Try to be patient. Your weight stats are close to what mine were, it seems to take a long time in the beginning but before you know it you will be amazed at how quickly things are progressing.

I agree with the other posts. After about two weeks, when the pain is gone and you are feeling better, the appetite comes back. This is called bandster hell. You can't worry about weight loss during this period. You have to be patient and allow your body to heal.

Wow, I am not aware that any doctor would give a fill two-weeks right after surgery. You are still in recovery mode and I am sure you have swelling going on inside from where the band was placed. We all want to reach goal quickly, but we know with the band our results will be slower.

I know it is hard, but be patient....before you know it you will have a fill and be on your way. However, I am sure you are aware that for a majority of us the first fill is not the magic bullet, so again be patient with yourself as you go through your journey!

Take care!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
