Non Scale Victories?

Recommended Posts

Hello Bandster Bunnies!!!

My roommate just got banded and she and I constantly talk about Non scale Victories (NSV), and I thought I'd start a thread for us to share what we're looking forward to beyond seeing the numbers drop on the scale.< /p>

I have a bunch, but the ones that pop into my mind most often are:

*Buying jeans that don't have stretch in them

*Not having to pull my pants UP and pull my shirt DOWN when I stand up

*Fitting nice and easy into airplane chairs, Starbucks chairs, bistro chairs, etc.

*Playing sports again

*Going swimming and enjoying it

*NOT shopping at Lane Bryant anymore

And just now I came face to face with one...

**Actually weighing what I state on my driver's license!!!!

I bumped it up to 200 a while ago, and to even be down to 200 will be a HUGE milestone. WOOHOO, I can't wait!

What are some NSVs you all are looking forward to?

I am not part of the April group, but my biggest NSV was at the gym not long ago.

A guy came up to me and asked me how I got my legs so toned. I was so shocked. I just pointed to the machines that I use all the time. They have really helped my thighs

which are not flabby at all. I wish I could say the same thing about my arms.

- Wearing high heels and not having balance issues.

- Wearing nice underwear and not having to wear bra-extenders!

- Running and enjoying it.

- Wearing a swim suit!

- Not sweating as much!

- Wearing a singlet in public although I am not sure I will ever be able to do this without feeling naked.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
