Sorry to hear that, wantitbad. Being on liquids is awful, no two ways about it. But look at it this way....at least you didn't cause permanent damage. This is a chance for you to get back on track, follow the rules and succeed. You can do this.

Green, glad things are working out for you with the unfill and Prilosec.

Wantitbad, just wondering why you were able to eat if your band was closed? That's strange. How long do you have to be on liquids?

Bamboobabe,

My band was almost closed, but not completely closed. As I mentioned above, I have not been an ideal bandster...food choice and portion size wise.

I factor in stress, because my band tends to react to it. My stepson has been hospitalized five times since September of last year. The most recent in February and he ended up in ICU.

I notice changes when I am stressed and when my monthly visitor is here. I feel tighter. I think this might have played a role in what has happened...as there were many, many stressful days during that time and watching what I ate took the back seat.

Again, I take complete blame for my food choices, but how do you explain the band being THAT tight?? My last fill was on 11/11/08.

My doctor told me to be on liquids for at least a week. I am going to try to stay on until I see him again (2 weeks).

GreenChrysalis...Thank you for your words of encouragement. I am grateful that I have this band and for the opportunity to start over again. I know there are many that do not get a second chance...their bands slip or other issues occur...

Hi All!! I've been banded since 4/08 and my last fill was in August. I have 5cc in my 10cc band. Recently I've been experiencing reflux at night, it’s not every night, but it happens at least once or twice a week (yuck). I’m currently on Omeprazole, which I take daily and I take a Pepcid AC before I go to bed just as a precaution. Called my dr today and I’m waiting for a call back. I have great restriction and I can’t even recall the last time I pb’d. Why after all this time would I start having this reflux? Some days with the band, I feel tighter but we all have those types of days. I just want the reflux to go away.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
