Buy Dove!!

Recommended Posts

I don't work for them, but I just saw a news piece that says that dove is using real people in their ads. Showed billboards with size 10-12 models. There is a lot of controversy with this. Some people are offended to see such fat girls on display.....I should be so fat. Currently I would take up the whole billboard. (Waiting on my band.) I applaud their effort to not use people who are smaller than a bar of their soap. The ad works for me....I'm buying.

There're just two things wrong with Dove's "Campaign for Real Beauty": All of the models are under 30, and none is truly plus-sized. There's not a Lap-Band candidate in the bunch, nor do any of them really need Dove's "firming lotion." Sure, this beats skinny-ass models, but the manufacturer has shrewdly calculated that most American women can better relate to a size 10-12 than a size 0-2. When Dove decides to use a 300-pound 50-year-old woman to sell soap, I'll be willing to give them points for corporate bravery.

Luckily, I have always used Dove, so they already had my money. But I too applaud them for using just regular gals. Of course, I know they are not true BBWs but they were not going to push that envelope to far!

I just went to their site and they are definately using plus sized women.

I heard that they were using upto sized 14, but I have no clue what people look like. The model Lindsey looks larger than a size 12 to me...

I've always used Dove, cause its the only soap I've found that doesn't break me out.

Loopy - you're right, the bodyshop rocks  But I'm not sure if they have that in the US? Think the closest thing to it there would be Bath & Body Works...

The Body Shop's products are the bomb too! Of course, I still have to be loyal to my Watkins products first. But in all honesty, the Body Shop's Hemp Face Protector was my saving grace during last winter. It is wonderful!!!!

You have to walk before you can run. I am giving them points for moving away from the anorexic girls and toward reality. Maybe after the world gets used to seeing normal sized girls - they can move into plus size.

After finally getting onto the photo re-touching web-site (finally! I was able to get there from my computer at home) I was appalled at the fact that these women, most of whom were fabulous to begin with - had been de-lined and turned into artificial cartoon characters.

If Dove is using anything other than a Barbie Doll to advertize - lets support it and encourage them.

I already use most dove producets! But I was happy to see "normal" size people- they really aren't plus size in my opinion- but they all were beautiful!

If you will check out some of their magazine adds there are indeed some older women models. I truly applaud them not just not using runway anorexic models but also for showing the beauty in every woman not just what regular commercial ads tell us is beautiful.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
