IamCanadian25 1 Posted August 20, 2005 So, i went to lunch with some friends yesterday, they all wanted Chinese. Chinese buffet at that. So i payed my $10 and proceeded to put food on my plate. Well, not even half way threw my plate, i was done, KO'd, out for the count. It cost me $10 to pick at a plate of food! Has anybody else had this problem? iamcanadian
angiebell 0 Posted August 20, 2005 If you show the card they gave you when you had your surgery, a lot of restaurants will give you the child buffet price. Ask them before get your food.< /p>
Thinjen 0 Posted August 20, 2005 Waiting to be banded....but, this is one of the issues that I'm already trying to deal with. See, it's an all you can eat buffet. Sounds like you got all you could eat. So, you didn't waste money. If you were like I am now (not banded yet) then "all you can eat" is really "all" a starving trucker can eat. Like Jack said, this is a BIG VICTORY!!!
Alexandra 55 Posted August 21, 2005 Oh, yeah, I've had my MIL pay almost $19 for me at her favorite lunch spot. I swear, I ate only $3 worth. I don't let her take me there anymore.
vinesqueen 2 Posted August 21, 2005 Oh yes, it is a total victory! What a great thing to be satisfied on just a little bit of food! Great work! Track this under your NSV list!
Chunk 0 Posted August 22, 2005 I totally hear ya on the buffet thing. Besides my surgeon, my wife is the only person who knows about my surgery and so I neve discuss it with anyone, especially some waitress at a restraunt. I avoid the buffet. I have found that my wife loves to eat my leftovers. Anyway, congrats on having the "self discipline" to stop eating when you have had enough. It will all PAY OFF in the end. Jammin & Losin 1 Posted August 22, 2005 I love when this happens and some one that is with me ... even if they know I'm banded says are you full all ready!!! My husband said if he keeps eating my leftovers he is gonna need to lose weight next!!! Deffinatly count it a victory!!!

Margo 0 Posted August 22, 2005 I have a weekend retreat coming up in October where you can opt to get your meals through the hotel.....you pay through the nose, but it is convienent. I thought about not doing this since I will not be eating much and would simply not be "getting my money's worth"....then I thought, wow, how cool, instead of eating everything and STILL being hungry, I will eat what I can, leave the rest and be satified!!!! That's worth the price of admission right there!!!!!
princess_n_thep 2 Posted August 22, 2005 I avoid buffets all together now. Haven't been to one since having the surgery.
Ruthie 2 Posted August 22, 2005 I hate buffets. They make me panic. I hated them before I was banded. I always knew that I was going to way overeat and as much as I would try to give myself a pep talk about only eating one plate, it never happened. My mother in law (who is very overweight) loves them. She doesn't know I"m banded so i'm anxious to see how things go next time she "treats me" to lunch. Did I mention I hate buffets! Great job on your victory over the buffet!
EllenDanis 0 Posted August 23, 2005 Hey CHUNK ~~~ I am right there with you on no one knowing but my surgeon and my hubbie! Since I am just one week out from surgery date, I am curious as to how long you have been banded, if others have noticed your weight loss and your replies, and what you say to comments about the amount of food you are eating. Thanks in advance for your time, Ellen banded for a week full liquid post-op diet - still :-P 219/209/I dunno - not 'overweight' would be good
Ezzysmom 0 Posted August 24, 2005 Yeah sure does seem like a waste of money.......but ya gotta figure.....that's how they make their money. Also I am reminded of something someone said at one of our local lap-band support group meetings........"you are worth it!" Very happy your band is working for you....hoooraaayy! soonergirl 0 Posted August 24, 2005 I also haven't told anyone except husband and mom. OH - and the people at the restuarant if it is only one of them with me. I don't think I have paid more than 4.95 for any buffet and sometimes I get a kids meal.
EllenDanis 0 Posted August 24, 2005 Hey SoonerGirl ~ I had my surgery at The Surgery Center in Richardson too! Richard Anderson is my doc and today is my 1 week bandiversary!
