Hello out there! I'm new to this site (obviously) and look forward to gaining confidence and knowledge from you all.

One thing I have going against me is that only TWO people in my life know about "my procedure"! :tt1: It's going to make it more difficult for me, but I'm going to make it work. I'm sure this website will be a good source of support for me.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Pamela. I too got banded on Jan 30 2009 in Mexico. I too only told two people before I went down for my surgery. It wasn't until I arrived home that I told the rest of my immediate family. I am very proud of my decision to undergo lapband sugery but I will not be sharing this with anyone else in my life. I think its ok to keep parts of ourselves to ourselves. Good luck!

You went all the way from Canada to Mexico to be banded? wow! I'm with you on keeping certain parts of our lives to ourselves. I'm quite the private person. Best of luck to you.

My first fill is next week! I think I've gained weight since my surgery... I wonder how common that is?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
