:tt1:Hey all,I had my first fill yesterday and had 4cc put in.It felt very wierd, and then I had to drink 3 small cups of Water before going home, ell, after a few sips I started getting pain sooo bad in my upper chest and I could burp sort of. I tried and tried but it almost felt like I was short ofbreaath and I couldn't even swallow my own saliva! I had to have 1.5 cc removed! I'm so bummed! Has anyone else had that experience???

There's no reason to be bummed. Had they left you like that, you would have been back the next day for an unfill. It sounds like you got the exact right amount restriction to help you get started, but not so much you might become dehydrated or worse yet, hurt your band.

The first time I couldn't swallow Water was my last fill with 8.6 cc in a 9 cc band. They backed out 0.2 cc to make my total fill that day 0.4 cc.

Good luck!!

Wow! 4cc for the first fill!!!!! I've had nine, yup, 9, fills and I'm at about 6cc in a 10cc band. My doctor won't go more than .5cc per fill ~ including the first fill. I think the challenge is to find the place where you have adequate restriction without pain. I know - the infamous 'sweet spot'. Trouble is, it's hard to tell if you're 'there' when you're having the fill. I wish there was some signal or sign or alarm that would go off when we've gotten a good fill. I keep telling my PA that we're sneaking up on that sweet spot!!!!!! Hopefully it will be soon...I've been waiting a long time for this!

Good luck everyone....we'll find that sweet spot!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
