embarassing and potentially dumb question...

Recommended Posts

My question is for the ladies... has anyone noticed that once they lost their weight that unwanted facial hair also went away or am I just stuck with it forever? I was told that with my PCOS that as I lose weight the level of testosterone that i produce as a woman will lessen and therefore won't have a problem with facial hair. Has anyone noticed this with their weightloss?

Boy do I hope that is true!!! Mine is really crazy, but my daughter has same problem, and she is smaller. Only hope there is that the stress level she is under has her pushing that hair out.

That's funny because my mom and I were just having that conversation. She's an RN and she was telling me how facial hair goes away when you lose weight. lol I don't know if it's true but my mom tends to know what she's talking about when it comes to body issues. Good luck!

Well I have PCOS and i've lost 70 lbs. I can tell you that the growth has slowed dramatically but I still have it in all the places on my face (chin, cheeks, sideburns, mustache) that I had before. I usually get waxed now about every month from a wonderful lady and my stylist who experiences the same problems so I don't feel so embarrassed going to her. I used to have to wax once a week, then it went to twice a week. I still think I want to look into the laser treatment on my whole face lol!

I actually have been perscribed the pill for facial hair, one called Yasmin which has an anti androgen (anti testosterone) in it and it works well, I skip the breaks because I don't have to have a break as I don't ovulate. It helps!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
