Yesterday was two weeks since my surgery. I have no restriction at all? Is this normal? I am eating pureed food and also just chewing until I can't chew anymore with any food not pureed (which to me is almost the same).

I don't like not having any restriction at all? Is this normal? because I am driving myself nuts telling myself the band slipped.. even bread goes down no problem?

Should I be worried?

It is absolutely normal and most of us are like this a few weeks out. You aren't really feeling "banded" until after you get a fill or two in. However, it is still really important to stick with your post op diet now to allow your band to settle well even if you are really hungry.

Sometimes if you call your doctor to let them know how you are feeling, they may progress your post op diet slightly.

Good luck, and just know that this time will pass. This is the most difficult phase of banding but it wont be like this for long.

Hi Jack, Congrats on your band. I was several fills out before I found they were certain foods that I could not tolerate. I did however notice that I got full faster after the lap band was placed. That is when I lost weight the fastest. Just follow the Dr's orders and be patient. When the fills start the tolerance will change. I am 9 months banded and have lost 60 pounds. THere is still times I get freaked out that my band has slipped, but I don't think it is as easy to slip as we think. YOu get more relaxed as you get to know your Band ,Good luck!

Hi Jacks,

Yes this is VERY normal. You are still healing and I would think you have no restriction yet. You do not want restriction when you are healing. Stitches have to heal and swelling has to calm dow. It took me 4 fills to have good restriction. It has only been a few days for you so just be patient. I know it is hard to wait because you are so excited. Just keep chewing and drinking lots of liquid. Don't get too excited that bread can go down. I didn't even attempt bread for a long time. Trust me you will know when restriction is felt. I am surprised you are eating bread. If that gets stuck you WILL feel it! Just relax and let yourself heal and let Mother Nature take her course!

Good Luck!

Stacey

thanks everyone for your impot I am going to try and not think about it so much, but i am just so excited i can't wait. I hope I can make it the next 4 weeks until I get my first fill!!

It was crazy of me to try the bread, but I chewed like a thousand times and it went right down, nothing seems to be giving me a problems - yet anyway!!

I will keep everyone posted.

I am two weeks banded today, and I feel no help from the band yet. I am remember to chew a lot, and I am watching my calories, but I am not feeling restticted yet. I hear this is the hardest time because you have gone through the surgery, but you do not feel the benefit yet. It will be nice to get a fill and start feeling full!
